Scheme Introduction : A Brief Overview

• The Assembly Election in Jharkhand is due in November 2024, to be conducted in two phases i.e. on November 13 and November 20, 2024.
• To form the next government in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party has released its manifesto, includes 25 promises.
• These 25 promises targets each and every section of the state that have been neglected under the current JMM government.
• Manifesto promises various schemes like Gogo Didi Yojana, Yuva Sathi Bhatta Yojana and others, among them one scheme grab attention the most called as "Phoolo-Jhano Padho Bitiya Scheme".
• This scheme promises to provide free education to girl child belongs to poor and backward class groups.
• Under this scheme, eligible students will receive free education from KG (Kindergarten) to PG (Post Graduation).
• The primary objective of this promise is to provide education accessible to the most vulnerable groups who are unable to join school or complete their education due to financial constraints.
• Phoolo-Jhano Padho Bitiya Scheme not only provides free education to girl child but also to improve the state's declining literacy rate.
• Free education benefits under the Phoolo-Jhano Padho Bitiya Scheme is restricted to poor and backward class categories; other categories will not be covered under this scheme.
• The announced scheme is also known by other names chiefly "Phool-Jhano Padho Bitiyan Yojana" or "Jharkhand KG to PG Free Education Scheme".
• Currently the Phoolo-Jhano Padho Bitiya Scheme is just a pre-poll promise of the BJP party.
• If BJP manages to form the government, they will implement this scheme probably in its first cabinet meeting.

Scheme Benefits

Eligibility Requirements

• KG to PG free education benefits under the Phoolo-Jhano Padho Bitiya Scheme will be provided to those applicants who meet the following guidelines : -
  • Applicants must be a female.
  • Women must be domiciled residents of Jharkhand.
  • Applicants must belong to poor and backward disadvantaged groups.
  • Annual Family income criteria will be shared upon scheme's implementation.
  • Free Education is likely to be provided in government schools.
  • Additional eligibility conditions will be announced once the scheme is officially launched.
