Scheme Introduction : A Brief Overview

• The assembly election in Jharkhand is scheduled to be held in November 2024, which will be conducted in two phases, on November 10, and November 20.
• Political parties geared up to form the next government in Jharkhand.
• For this, parties have released its election manifesto and promised to implement various welfare schemes, if voted to power.
• Aiming to form the government, BJP also announced several schemes in its manifesto.
• Of these, one scheme is announced for the welfare of the girl child known as "Ladli Laxmi Yojana".
• However, this scheme is not new and launched way back in the year 2011 but was discontinued later.
• BJP promises in their manifesto, they will reinstate the Ladli Laxmi Scheme.
• Under this scheme, the BJP promises to provide an assurance certificate of Rs 1,75,000/-.
• This assurance certificate will be provided to each girl child at birth.
• Earlier, the scheme promised various benefits for the girl child; such as : -
  • Opening an account with specific deposit at the Post Office.
  • Annual investment of Rs 6,000 will be done through account open.
  • Financial assistance of Rs 2,000/- on enrollment in class 6 and Rs 4,000/- in class 9.
  • Assistance of Rs 7,500/-, on passing class 11.
  • A scholarship of Rs 200/- in class 11 and 12.
  • A lump sum amount of Rs 1,08,600/- to girls turns 21 and appears in the 12th examination, ensuring she gets married after 18.
• The above notified benefits are based on the scheme launched previously, we need to check whether the party makes any changes to it or not.
• Benefits of Jharkhand Ladli Laxmi Yojana will be provided to girls of BPL families.
• The main objective of the scheme is to make every girl educated, reduce the illiteracy among girls and female feticide rate in the state.
• Additionally, the scheme will also help to prevent girl child marriage, which is prominent in the state especially in rural areas.
• Currently, the scheme is part of the election manifesto and will only be implemented if the BJP wins the election and forms the government.
• Once the party implements the scheme they will release its official guidelines.

Scheme Benefits

• If the BJP wins the state assembly election they will provide following benefits under the Laxmi Ladli Yojana : -
  • Assurance certificate of Rs 1,75,000/-
  • This certificate will be provided at the birth of every girl child.
    

Eligibility Requirements

• To receive the benefit of Jharkhand Laxmi Ladli Yojana, applicants must meet the following eligibility conditions : -
  • Applicant must be a girl child and domiciled resident of Jharkhand.
  • Girls must belong to BPL (Below Poverty Line) category.
  • Remaining criteria will be shared in the scheme guidelines.

Required Documents

• Applicants are required to produce the following documents when applying for the Laxmi Ladli Yojana : -
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Parents Aadhaar Card.
  • Address Proof.
  • BPL Certificate.
  • Others as requested in the scheme guidelines.

Steps to Apply

• To receive benefits of Ladli Laxmi Yojana, applicants must apply for the scheme.
• As the scheme is part of the BJP election manifesto, its application process is not announced.
• It is expected that Jharkhand Ladli Laxmi Yojana application form will be invited either online or offline.
• Online applications are likely to be received either from the nodal department or through a dedicated portal.
• Offline application forms are expected to be received from department offices or through Angangwadi centres.
• The scheme will only be implemented if the BJP wins the election and forms the government.
• It will be cleared on the election result date i.e. on 23 November 2024, whether the scheme will be implemented or not.
