Scheme Introduction : A Brief Overview

• During pregnancy, women often face various challenges related to physical and mentally.
• It is important for them to maintain a nutrient rich diet to stay mentally and physically fit.
• However, it is difficult for many women to keep focus on their diet due to financial constraints.
  
• On many occasions it is found that women are unable to receive a proper nutritious diet during pregnancy, which may cause serious impact on both mothers and babies.
• To address this issue, the Bharatiya Janata Party has proposed a new initiative called the "Matritva Suraksha Yojana".
• This proposal is part of the party's election manifesto for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly election due in November 2024.
• In order to form the next government, all political parties start alluring state voters with their various promises.
• In view of this, the Bharatiya Janata Party also released its manifesto with 25 key promises, and Matritva Suraksha Scheme is one of them.
• The Matritva Suraksha Scheme promises to cater all pregnant women by providing financial assistance of Rs 21,000/-.
• This assistance can be used to purchase necessary dietary supplements for pregnant women.
• Additionally, the party also promises to provide six nutritional kits to each beneficiary.
• These kits have dietary supplements that are to be taken at regular intervals which are helpful for the overall growth of both mother and foetus.

Scheme Benefits

• Under the Matritva Suraksha Yojana, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) promises to provide following benefits to pregnant women : -
  • One time financial assistance of Rs 21,000/-
  • Six nutrition kits.
  • Assistance amount will be credited directly to the beneficiaries bank account.

Eligibility Requirements

• To receive the assistance of Rs 21,000/- and the nutrition kits under the Matritva Suraksha Scheme, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria : -
  • Beneficiary women must be permanent residents of Jharkhand.
  • Beneficiary women must be pregnant and are of notified categories.
  • Other conditions will be stated in the scheme guidelines.

Required Documents

• Beneficiary women's are requested to produce their following documents when applying for the Matritva Suraksha Yojana : -
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Domicile Certificate.
  • Passport Size photograph.
  • Hospital documents (as requested)
  • Bank Passbook.
  • Address proof.
  • Others as stated in the scheme guidelines.

Steps to Apply

• The Jharkhand Matritva Suraksha Yojana is a pre-election promise of the BJP party.
• It will be implemented in the state once the BJP wins the election and forms the next government.
• Details about Matritva Suraksha Scheme applications are yet to be provided.
• It is expected that the Matritva Suraksha Yojana application forms are likely to be invited either online or offline.
• If scheme applications are invited online, beneficiaries can submit its application through the department portal or scheme's dedicated portal.
• In case the procedure is offline, applicants can collect the application form from the nearest Angangwadi centres free of cost.
