Scheme Introduction : A Brief Overview

• Jharkhand is all set for its upcoming assembly election, which will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20, 2024.
• Political parties like Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), BJP, Congress, and other regional parties are gearing up for the election.
• In a bid to form the next government, political parties including the current government party start announcing their pre-poll promises to attract voters.
• Like others, the current government led by the Hemant Soren party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) also made some significant announcements.
• Recently, during a cabinet meeting, the party has promised to implement JMM Samman Yojana.
• Under this scheme, the party will increase the financial assistance provided under the "Maiyya Samman Yojana".
• Increased benefit amount will be provided to all beneficiaries from December 2024 onwards.
• Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren introduced the women centric scheme "Jharkhand Maiyya Samman Yojana" in August 2024.
• The scheme is also known by other names; such as "Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiyya Samman Yojana", or "Jharkhand Chief Minister Maiyya Samman Scheme".
• The scheme aims to cater financial needs of women's from low income and other disadvantaged groups of Jharkhand.
• Under the Mukhyamantri Maiyya Samman Yojana, the government currently provides a monthly assistance of Rs 1,000/-.
• Seeking assembly election in November and with a goal to remain in power, Heman Soren and his cabinet have promised to increase the assistance amount to Rs 2,500/- per month.
• It means, if the JMM party wins the election and forms the government, beneficiaries of Maiyya Samman Yojana will get Rs 2,500/- monthly instead of Rs 1,000/-.
• With this increased benefits, the beneficiary women would receive an yearly assistance of Rs 30,000/-.
• However, the Maiyya Samman Yojana increased assistance benefits is a pre-poll promise and will only be levied if the JMM wins the assembly election and forms the next government.
• It is to be understood that the increased benefit announcement came soon after the BJP introduced a similar scheme called the "Gogo Didi Yojana".
• Under the Gogo Didi Yojana, the BJP has promised to provide a monthly assistance of Rs 2,100/- to all women's.
• To counter this offer, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has increased the benefits under the Maiyya Samman Yojana"..
• Beneficiaries aged between 21 to 50 years are eligible to receive scheme benefits.

Scheme Benefits

• Under the JMM Samman Yojana, eligible women beneficiaries are entitled for the following benefits : -
  • Financial assistance to all eligible women.
  • Monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500/-
  • Assistance will be credited directly to the beneficiary bank account.

Eligibility Requirements

• The JMM Samman Yojana is specifically designed for the women applicants from Jharkhand. To receive the monthly assistance of Rs 2,500/-, applicants must meet the following eligibility conditions : -
  • Applicants must be domiciled residents of Jharkhand.
  • The applicants' age should be between 21 and 50 years.
  • Beneficiary must have an Aadhaar seeded bank account.
  • Applicants must possess Yellow/White/Green or Pink Ration Card.

Ineligibility Criteria

• There are some ineligibility conditions that women must consider. Women who falls in any of the given criteria re not eligible to receive assistance under the JMM Samman Yojana : -
  • If the woman or any of her family member is an income tax payer.
  • If the women is registered with EPF.
  • If the women is a pensioner.
  • If Either women or her husband is a Central or State or PSU servant.
  • If beneficiary women is a pensioner.
  • If women receives a social security pension scheme.
  • If women or her family member is a current or retired MP/MLA.

Required Documents

• When submitting the Maiyya Samman Application form, applicants must attach their following documents in support of their eligibility : -
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Aadhaar Seeded bank account.
  • Ration Card.
  • Voter Identity Card.
  • PAN Card.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Self Declaration.

Steps to Apply

• Eligible beneficiaries can submit their JMM Samman Yojana application offline.
• For this, beneficiaries need to collect the Jharkhand Maiyya Samman Yojana application form from the Angangwadi centre or can download it online.
• After filling out all the details along with self declaration, affix your all documents with it.
• Now submit this dully filled in application form to the nearest Women and Child Development department or at Angangwadi centres.
• The submitted JMM Samman Yojana applications will be verified by the nodal department.
• Once verified successfully, beneficiaries will start receiving benefits from the following month.
• Assistance of Rs 2,500/- will be credited to the beneficiary bank account via DBT mode.
• Currently, the government is providing assistance of Rs 1,000/- and the increased assistance will be provided if JMM voted to power again.
• If JMM form the government in the upcoming assembly election, the increased assistance amount will be credited from December 2024 onwards.
