Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• It should be the duty of every government to recognise the exemplary performance of their meritorious students.
• By doing so, government not only praise meritorious students but also motivate others to perform better in the examination.
• In view of this, the Odisha government has promised to distribute free laptops to meritorious students who pass their 12th examination.
• For this, they have introduced a scheme called as "Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana" (Laptop DBT).
• However, the scheme was not new and it is a renamed version of the former scheme "Biju Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana" also known as "Free Laptop Scheme".
• Since its launch in the year 2013, the Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana (GVPY) has benefitted numerous students.
• The scheme is also known by other names such as "Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Scheme".
• Under the scheme, the government provide free laptops to meritorious 12th pass students.
• For this, each eligible students will receive cash assistance of Rs 30,000/- in lieu of laptops.
• With the help of cash assistance, students can purchase laptops, which will be helpful in their higher education.
• Scheme will benefit 15,000 students in an academic year to avail free laptop benefits.
• In recent times, the state government has implemented various scheme for students by providing scholarship and other benefits. Some of them are : -
  • Odisha Sudakshya Scholarship Scheme.
  • Odisha Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana.
  • Odia Uttam Chatra Chhatrabrutti Scheme.
  • Odisha Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Yojana.
• To oversee the scheme implementation of Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana, the Higher Education Department of Odisha is appointed as the nodal authority
• Based on the marks secured in the examination, the nodal authority will prepare a list of meritorious students at block/ULB level.
• Students securing 60% or above marks in the examination will be considered for the beneficiary list.
• In case students secured more marks than the selected beneficiaries and his/her name is not in the list, such students can submit their grievance to their respective principal.
• Higher Education Department will publish the merit list at their official portal as well as on the State Scholarship Portal.
• Eligible students whose names appear on the final list have to apply to receive Rs 30,000/- assistance under the Odisha Free Laptop Scheme.
• Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana assistance amount will be credited directly to Aadhaar linked bank account through Aadhaar Payment Bridge System (APBS).
• In case of multiple accounts, the amount will be transferred to a recently linked bank account.
• Students who passed their annual higher secondary examination in Science/Arts/Commerce/Vocational Stream conducted by the CHSE Odisha or Upashastri or conducted by Shree Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya are eligible to apply.
• If any selected students fail to apply for the Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana, they can still apply for the scheme.
• For this, applicants need to send their applications along with Aadhaar card and send it through email at laptopdbt2024@gmail.com.
• The last date to submit Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana application is November 6, 2025.

Scheme Benefits

• Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana offers following benefits to intermediate pass out students : -
  • A one time scholarship of Rs 30,000/-
  • A total of 15,000 scholarships will be distributed.
  • Students can use the scholarship amount to purchase a laptop.
  • Benefit will be transferred through DBT.

Eligibility Requirements

• Students must read the eligibility criteria before submitting applications for Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana : -
  • Students must be domiciled residents of Odisha.
  • Students must have passed the class 12th examination from CHSE (O), Upashashtri, and from Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University, Puri.
  • Students must have secured his/her name in the merit list issued by higher education department.

• Students must provide the following documents when submitting applications for Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana : -
  • Student Aadhaar Card.
  • Student passport Size Photograph.
  • Last Exam Marksheet.
  • Class 12th Admit Card/Hall Ticket.
  • Caste Certificate.
  • Address Proof.
  • Bank Account Passbook.
  • Student ID Card.

Steps to Apply

• Students whose name is listed in the merit list of the scheme are eligible to apply.
• Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana application form is available at Odisha State Scholarship Portal.
• Before applying, students need to register at the portal.
• For registration, applicants need to tap on the 'Login' and select 'Student Login' from its dropdown list.
• Enter your Aadhaar number and complete the authentication process by submitting OTP.
• After successful authentication, provide other details and complete the registration process.
• From the home page, tap on the "Apply" button available in front of the scheme.
• Now "Login" with the registration details.
• Select the Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana (GVPY) under the scholarship list.
• Fill the application form by providing your personal, academic and bank details.
• Preview the application form before final submission.
• Download the submitted application form copy for future reference purpose.
• Authority will verify the applicant's details and disburse the amount to the student bank account.
• If anyone fails to apply for the scheme despite his/her name in the list can submit their application through email.
• For this, applicants need to send an email at laptopdbt2024@gmail.com attaching the duly filled in application form along with the aadhaar copy.
• Applicants must submit their Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana application before its last date.
• For the year 2025, applicants must submit their Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana application before 6 November 2025.
