Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• After working tirelessly throughout the day, construction workers only manage to secure a three meal for their family.
• Due to financial constraints, many construction workers are unable to send their children to school.
• To address this issue, the Odisha government started an initiative called "Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana".
• Scheme offers financial assistance to eligible registered building construction worker children for their education.
• The assistance amount under the scheme varies based on the students class, starting from Rs 2,000 and goes up to Rs 40,000/- annually.
• The assistance under the Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana will be provided annually as per the duration of course.
• The main objective of the scheme is to provide the necessary financial aid to the children of construction workers, helping them to continue their education without financial hindrance.
• The announced scheme is also know by "Nirman Shramik Kalyan Scheme".
• Both boys and girls are eligible for the Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana. However, boys are eligible to receive benefits from class 8th onwards.
• A maximum of two children from a family are entitled to receive education assistance.
• Girls beneficiaries will receive an additional benefit of 20% over and above the normal assistance from class 8th onwards.
• It is important for the students to read the eligibility criteria stated in the Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana guidelines.
• The students' parents must be registered with the Building and Construction Worker Board for a minimum duration of one year.
• If both parents are registered with the board, the benefits will not be provided separately for each parent.
• Students must maintain a minimum 50% attendance for the year assistance is required.
• Assistance amount will be credited to the bank account via DBT mode.

• The last date to submit the application form for Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana is 30 November 2024.

Scheme Benefits

• Under the Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana, the Odisha government offers scholarships to children's of Building and Construction workers, whose details are given below : -
  • Eligible ward/children of BOCW workers will receive an annual scholarship up to Rs 40,000/-
  • The assistance amount varies depending on the class of the student.
  • Both girls and boys are eligible for assistance.
  • Assistance will be provided to students studying in class 6 and above.
  • Additional 20% benefit will be provided to girl beneficiaries from class 8th onwards over the standard assistance.

Eligibility Requirements

• In order to receive scholarship benefits under the Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana, the beneficiaries must meet the following eligibility conditions : -
  • Applicants must be domiciled residents of Odisha.
  • Parents of the applicants must be registered with the Construction welfare board for at least one year.
  • Both girls and boys are eligible.
  • A maximum of two children per family are eligible for benefits.
  • Students must maintain a minimum 50% attendance in an academic year.
  • Children will receive assistance from class 6th onwards.
  • For class 6th and 7th the assistance is applicable for girls only.
  • From class 8th onwards, both boys and girls are eligible.
  • Students must belong to General, SC, ST, OBC/SEBC, and EBC category.

Required Documents

• Applicants are requested to furnish the following documents when submitting applications for Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana : -
  • Applicants' parents Aadhaar Card.
  • BOC ID Card issued to children's parents.
  • Mark Sheet and Certificate of last passed exam.
  • Bank Account Passbook.
  • College ID/Admission Receipt/ Library Card/Letter of Undertaking.
  • Caste Certificate.
  • Age proof.
  • Disability Certificate (If applicable).

Steps to Apply

• Eligible applicants can apply for the Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana.
• Application forms for Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana (NSKY) are available online at Odisha State Scholarship Portal.
• Applicants must submit their Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana applications before its closing date i.e. 30 November 2024.
• Applicants must keep the aforementioned documents ready before you proceed.
• Applicants registration is mandatory at Odisha State Scholarship Portal.
• For registration, applicants need to provide their Aadhaar number, email id and other details.
• Upon successful registration, applicants will receive the login details through email.
• Select the "Apply" tab from the home page.
  
• Login with the your 'Aadhaar Number' and 'Password'.
  
• In the application form, provide personal, academic and bank details.
• Upload the documents in the given size and format.
• Click the "Save as draft" button and press the "Next" button to save and proceed the application form.
• Applicants must generate the print out of the submitted application form.
• Authenticity of the received application will be checked by the authority.
• District labour officer will disburse the scholarship amount to the verified applicants.
