Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• There are many individuals engage in different forms of self employment, and Livestock farming is one of them.
• However, these livestock farmers often face various challenges in their day to day life, particulary when their animal dies.
• As it not only affects the farmers mentally but also financially.
• To address this issue, the state government of Rajasthan has come up with a unique initiative called 'Pashudhan Insurance Scheme".
• Under this scheme, the state government will provide fee insurance and vaccination benefits to its beneficiaries.
• The primary objective of the scheme is to protect the beneficiaries from the financial loss incurred due to death of their livestock by providing necessary financial support.
• Initially, the scheme was part of the BJP election manifesto, and was launched successfully after they form the government.
• However, while launching the scheme officially, the government changed the scheme name to "Mukhyamantri Mangala Pashu Bima Yojana".
• Since its launch, the Pasudhan Insurance scheme is known as "Mukhyamantri Mangala Pashu Bima Yojana".
• Earlier, a similar scheme was run by the previous government called as "Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Pashu Bima Yojana".
• In order to provide similar benefits more efficiently, the current government discontinued the Kamdhenu Pashu Bima Yojana and implements its own scheme.
• With the help of this scheme, the farmers need not to be worried at all, as their animals will be protected under the Pasudhan Bima Yojana.
• Under this scheme, livestock farmers can insure their cow, buffaloes, goat, camles, and sheep.
• Apart from the free insurance, the farmers will also receive vaccination of their insured animals to protect them from various diseases.
• In case of death of an insured animal, beneficiaries must report immediately to the insruance company and veterinarian of their respective area.
• After doing all the formalities, the insurance company will the disburse the insured amount for the animal, so that farmers can buy other livestock.

Scheme Benefits

• Under the Pashudhan Insurance Scheme, the state government will provide the following benefits to livestock farmers : -
  • Free insurance for all livestock.
  • Free Vaccination will also be provided to all insured animals.

Eligibility Requirements

• Beneficiaries must be a domiciled resident of Rajasthan.
• Beneficiaries must be cattlemen.
• Insurance will be provided to milching cow/buffalo/ Goat/ Sheep/Camel.

• Eligible beneficiaries must provide the following documents when applying for the Rajasthan Pasudhan Insurance Scheme : -
  • Residence Proof.
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Bank Passbook.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Applicant photograph with livestock.
  • Janaadhaar Card.

Steps to Apply

• Applicants can apply for the Rajasthan Pashudhan Insurance Scheme either online or offline.
• Online registration can be done through its portal, while offline application form can be submitted at the nearest E-Mitra Centre.
• Applicants will not be charged any fee for application submission.
• Beneficiaries need to fill out the Pashudhan Bima Yojana application form carefully.
• Attach the requested documents as requested and submit it.
• The nodal authority team will verify the authenticity of the submitted application.
• Upon successful verification, applicants will receive its confirmation via SMS on their registered mobile number.
• In case of death of the animal, applicants need to inform the insurance provider and veterinarian immediately.
• After doing all the formalities like postmortem, the authority will prepare the report.
• Post the entire process, the insured amount of the dead animal will be credited to the beneficiaries bank account.
