Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

  • The State governments of Karnataka are some of the states that often announce schemes which are not offered by others.
  • Recently, the Karnataka Government introduced an initiative called the "Santwana Scheme".
  • This scheme aims to provide help to beneficiaries from minority communities whose houses or shops were destroyed due to natural calamities or communal violence.
  • Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries are entitled for a loan of Rs 5,00,000/- comprising 50% amount as a subsidy and the rest 50% as a loan.
  • The primary objective of the scheme is to provide monetary relief to the beneficiaries in the hour of difficulty.
  • The scheme not only provides loans but also subsidies which gives them some sort of relief in their difficult time.
  • It is important for the applicant to check the eligibility criteria outlined in the scheme guidelines.
  • None of the applicants or their family members obtained loan benefits from the corporation (except Arivu Education Loan Scheme) in the last 5 years.
  • To receive the scheme benefits applicants must be a domiciled resident of Karnataka and his/her age should be between 18 and 55 years.
  • However, the annual income of the beneficiary family should not exceed the limit of Rs 8 lakh else they will not receive any benefit.
  • Eligible beneficiaries must obtain a certificate from the respective competent authority, confirming the applicant's houses/shops were destroyed during the course of the event.
  • Beneficiaries can apply for the Santwana scheme online through KMDCL Online Application Management Portal.
  • Applicants must submit their application before its deadline.

Scheme Benefits

  • The Karnataka State government provides the following benefits to Religious minority community people whose houses were destroyed in the natural calamities or in communal violence : -
    • A loan will be provided to each beneficiary for the re-establishment or renovation of the damaged house.
    • Scheme promises a maximum loan of Rs 5,00,000/- to each beneficiary.
    • The loan amount consists of 50% as a subsidy and 50% as a loan.
    • Applicants need to repay only half of the amount obtained as a loan.

Eligibility Requirements

  • To receive the benefit of Santwana Scheme, the applicants must meet the following eligibility conditions : -
    • Applicants must be a domiciled resident of Karnataka.
    • Applicants must belong to a religious minority community.
      • Muslims.
      • Parsis.
      • Buddhism.
      • Christians.
      • Jains.
      • Sikhs.
    • Age of the applicants should be between 18 to 55 years.
    • Annual income of the family should be less than Rs 8.00 lakh.
    • Respective beneficiaries must collect a report from the concerned department.
    • Applicants or their family members should not be an employee of the Central or State Government.
    • Neither applicants nor his/her family member obtain a loan from the corporation in last 5 year (Except Arivu Education Loan Scheme)

    • Caste Certificate.
    • Income Certificate.
    • Aadhaar Card Copy.
    • Bank Passbook.
    • Self Declaration form from Surety.
    • Applicant's Self Declaration.
    • Report issued from the competent department.

Steps to Apply

  • Minority religious community members can apply online for Santwana Scheme.
  • Online Applications form for Santwana Scheme is available at KMDCL Online Application Management Portal.
  • To apply, visit the KMDCL Official Website i.e. https://kmdconline.karnataka.gov.in.
  • Select the scheme link from the home page and enter your 'Mobile Number'.
  • Verify your mobile number by entering the OTP received via SMS.
  • Enter your 'Aadhaar number' and verify the same using OTP received on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.
  • Choose the scheme from the list and proceed to fill in the details required.
  • Provide your address details and proceed to Next.
  • Upload the necessary documents along with passport size photographs.
  • Preview the application form to ensure the details accuracy.
  • Press the 'Submit' tab to submit Santwana Scheme Application.
  • Save the generated Application ID details for future reference.
  • Applicants can also track the application status of their submitted application form through the portal.
