Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

  • The Karnataka government, in association with the Minorities Development Corporation Limited has introduced a scheme for the minorities women who are the members of Self Help Groups (SHGs).
  • The scheme aims to provide a backend subsidy to eligible beneficiaries is known as "Subsidy Scheme for Self Help Groups of Minorities".
  • A back-end subsidy is when a certain portion of the loan is repaid by the borrower to the lender, while the rest of the loan amount is covered as subsidy.
  • These back-end subsidies are specifically provided to borrowers with good internal loan repayment.
  • Under the scheme, the authority provides a subsidy of 50% of the Unit cost or up to Rs. 2.00 Lakh (whichever is lower).
  • The benefits of the scheme are available to women's belonging to minority communities and are a member of Self Help Groups.
  • The minorities communities women that can avail the scheme benefits are :
    • Muslims, Parsis, Buddhism, Christians, Jains, and Sikhs.
  • The subsidy provided under the scheme will be adjusted against the loan taken by the respective SHG from scheduled bank or institutions.
  • Meanwhile, priority will be given to such SHGs who are focusing on the internal loan repayment.
  • The primary objective of the scheme is to provide monetary support by providing subsidies on the loans obtained from various institutions, enabling them self reliant and engage in various types of self employment activities.
  • By doing this, SHGs can creates sustainable livelihood for their members.
  • Applicants must apply for the Subsidy Scheme for Self Help Groups of Minorities before its last date.
  • Application form for Subsidy Scheme for Self Help Groups of Minorities can be submitted online from KMDC Online Application Management Portal.
  • Before applying for the subsidy benefits applicants must read the eligibility details outlined in the scheme guidelines.
  • Those who fails to fulfill the criteria will not be considered eligible.
  • As the scheme is for the minority communities women, who are the members of SHG.
  • The age of the respective women member of the SHGs should be between 18 and 55 years.
  • Self Help Groups with 10 to 20 members should be at least 6 months old and must have registered with the Deputy Registrar.
  • If any of the SHG members or their family members have receive any loan or subsidy benefit from the corporation previously (Except Arivu or Foreign Education loan) are not eligible for the scheme.

Scheme Benefits

  • Under the Subsidy Scheme for Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Minorities, eligible beneficiaries will receive the following benefits : -
    • A back end subsidy will be provided for the repayment of loan taken by the SHG.

Eligibility Requirements

  • To be eligible for the Subsidy Scheme for Self help Group of Minorities benefits; applicants must meet the following eligibility conditions : -
    • Applicants must be a women and members of registered Self Help Group (SHG).
    • SHG members must belong to minority communities.
    • SHG members must be domiciled residents of Karnataka.
    • Each SHG must have women members between 10 to 20.
    • The annual family income of the SHG members should be less than Rs 6.00 lakh.
    • SHG Members age should be between 18 to 55 years.
    • Women Self help Group must be registered by the Deputy Registrar.
    • Each SHG must have only one member from a family.
    • Neither SHG members nor their family members should be employed in state or central government post.
    • Neither SHG members nor their family members have taken any loan or subsidy from the corporation in the last 5 years (Except Arivu or Foreign Education Loan).
    • The Self Help Group must hold regular meetings (at least one in a month).
    • SHG members should not be receiving any assistance from the corporation.
    • SHG must maintain a fixed savings and use this saving amount for inter loan to their members.
    • Priority will be given to such SHG which emphasis on internal loan repayment and good repayment record.
    • SHG must be at least 6 months old.
    • SHG must maintain adequate record books.
