Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• The Karnataka government has introduced a scheme for the Sikh religious minority community which is called as "Sikhligar's Community Development Scheme".
• The Sikh community in the 12 districts of Karnataka is economically backward, with most of them engaged in ironwork such as welding (fabricator)
• Community indulge in such ironwork commonly known as Silkhligar.
• By doing this, they manage to earn only Rs 50,000 to Rs. 1,00,000/- annually, which caused a financial hardship among the community.
• To alleviate these challenges, the state government aims to provide subsidy and loan to strengthen the community.
• Under the Sikhligar's Community Development Scheme the government promises to provide certain benefits; which includes : -
  • A loan of Rs 50 thousand and a subsidy of Rs 50 thousand for their business.
  • Beneficiaries can avail a subsidy of up to Rs 1.50 lakh, equivalent to 33% of the vehicle cost, for purchasing goods tempos or vehicle.
  • The scheme promises a subsidy of maximum Rs 1 lakh to those who wish to avail loans from banks or financial institutions.
• The primary objective of the scheme is to strengthen the community and promote economic self-reliance among them.
• The scheme is also referred as "Karnataka Sikligar Community Development Scheme" or "Sikhligar's Community Development Yojana" or "Sikhligar's Community Development Scheme of Karnataka".
• As the scheme is focused on Sikh Community so its benefit can only be availed by the beneficiary of Sikh religious minority community of the state.
• However, it is mandatory to meet the eligibility guidelines as shared in the scheme guidelines.
• Domiciled residents of Karnataka with age between 18 to 55 years can apply for the Sikhligar's Community Development Scheme.
• Applicants with annual family income more than 6 lakh and family members who are state or central government employees will not be considered eligible.
• Besides this applicants should not avail any loan or subsidy benefit from the corporation in the last 5 years (excluding Arivu Education Loan and Foreign Education Loan scheme beneficiaries.
• Beneficiaries meeting all the conditions stated in the scheme can submit their application online.

• In the application form applicants must submit their key documents along with a self declaration form.

Scheme Benefits

• The Karnataka government has promised to provide financial assistance as well as subsidy as per the need of the applicants under its "Sikhligar's Community Development Scheme", whose details are given as : -
  • Scheme offers a loan of Rs 50,000/- and a subsidy of Rs 50,000/- for business purposes.
  • A subsidy of 33% (maximum 1.5 lakh) of the vehicle cost will be provided to purchase goods tempos or vehicles.
  • Beneficiaries taking loans from financial institutions for self employment will receive a subsidy of 33% up to a maximum of Rs 1 lakh.

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants must satisfy the below mentioned eligibility conditions to receive Sikhligar's Community Development Scheme benefits : -
  • Benefit will only be provided to the religious Sikh minority category of the state.
  • Beneficiary must be a domiciled resident of Karnataka.
  • Age of the beneficiaries should be between 18 to 55 years.
  • Annual income of the beneficiary family should not exceed Rs 6,00,000/-.
  • None of the members of the applicant's family should be an employee of the State or Central Government.
  • Neither applicant nor its family member availed benefit of any loan/subsidy from the corporation (except Arivu Education Loan and Foreign Education Loan Scheme) in the last 5 years.
  • Applicants should not be in the corporation defaulter list.

Required Documents

• Applicants ensure following documents with them at the time of submitting Sikhligar's Community Development Scheme application form : -
  • Passport size photograph.
  • Caste/Minority Certificate issued by the authority.
  • Annual Income Certificate issued by the officials.
  • Address Proof (Aadhaar Card Copy)
  • Bank Passbook Copy.
  • A detailed copy of the project report.
  • Vehicle estimated quotation.
  • Self Declaration of the applicants.

Steps to Apply

• Applicants can apply for the Sikhligar's Community Development Scheme Online.
• The Online Application for Sikhligar's Community Development Scheme is available at KMDCL Online Application Management Portal.
• Applicants need to tap on the Apply Online and enter their mobile number.
• Verify the submitted mobile number with 6 digit OTP received on your mobile number.
• Post its verification, enter your Aadhaar number and completes its authentication.
• For authentication applicants need to enter the OTP received on the Aadhaar linked number.
• Select the Sikhligar's Community Development Scheme from the list and proceed.
• Fill in the details as requested in the application.
• Provide your address details and upload the documents in given size and format.
• Once done with the above details press the proceed tab and submit the application form.
• Before final submission applicants must preview and read the details entered.
• Applicants can track the status of Sikhligar's Community Development Scheme Application Form Online.
• Applicants must save the Application ID generated during the form submission.
