Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme

Introduction

• Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme was launched on 02.12.2015 by Government Of Jammu and Kashmir.
• This scheme is implemented by Department of Social Welfare of Jammu and Kashmir Government.
• The main objective behind launching Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme is to abolish the child marriage by providing support for the marriage to those families who are not able to conduct it due to their poor financial condition.
• This scheme is also called as "Jammu and Kashmir State Marriage Assistance Scheme for Poor Girls".
• Government of Jammu and Kashmir now provide financial assistance to needy people to conduct the marriage in their home without thinking about the expenses.
• Financial Assistance of Rs. 50,000/- will be provided to all eligible girl beneficiaries for their marriage under Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme.
• This is a DBT Scheme which means the amount of financial assistance will directly transferred in the bank account of beneficiary.
• Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) or Priority Household (PPH) Ration Card Holder Families are eligible to apply for financial assistance for marriage under Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme.
• Girl Beneficiary whose age is 18 years or more are eligible to apply.
• It is mandatory for a Girl Beneficiary to pass minimum class 8th examination.
• But in case a girl beneficiary is a school drop out then those girls are also eligible to apply for marriage assistance from the year 2022 to 2024.
• From 01-04-2025, passing class 8th is mandatory to avail the benefit of financial assistance for marriage under Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme.
• Eligible Beneficiary can apply for Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme by applying through Online Application Form which is availble on Jansugam Portal.

Benefits

• Benefits provided by Jammu and Kashmir Government under its Marriage Assistance Scheme are as follows :-
  • Financial Assistance will be provided for Marriage of a Girl.
  • Rs. 50,000/- Financial Assistance will be provided for Marriage.

Eligibility

• Government of Jammu and Kashmir sets the following eligibility conditions for beneficiaries in order to provide them financial assistance for marriage under Marriage Assistance Scheme :-
  • Age of Girl Beneficiary should be 18 Years or More.
  • Beneficiary should have AAY (Antyodana Anna Yojana) or PPH (Priority Household) Ration Card.
  • Minimum Qualification of the Beneficiary Girl should be 8th Pass or Equivalent. (Mandatory from 2025)
  • Eligible Girl can apply for assistance at least one month before the date of marriage.

Documents Required

• The below mentioned documents is needed at the time of applying for financial assistance for marriage under Jammu and Kashmir Government's Marriage Assistance Scheme :-
  • Date of Birth Certificate.
  • AAY or PPH Ration Card.
  • Adhaar Card.
  • Education Qualification Certificate. (From 2025)
  • Marriage Invitation Card.

How to Apply

• Eligible Beneficiary can apply for Financial Assistance for Marriage under Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme through Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form of Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme is available on Jansugam Portal.
• Beneficiary have to Register herself first.
• Fill the below mentioned details in Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme Registration Form :-
  • Full Name.
  • Email ID.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Choose Password.
  • Select State.
• Enter Captcha and Click on Submit Button to Submit it.
• Portal will verify the Mobile Number and Email ID of beneficiary through OTP Verification.
• Login Credential will be send on registered mobile number after registration.
• Login with the received User Name and Password.
• Choose Marriage Assistance Scheme from Scheme List.
• Fill the remaining details in the Application Form of Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme.
• Upload all the required documents.
• Preview the Application Form throughly and Click on Submit Button to Submit it.
• Concerned Officials of Department of Social Welfare will scrutinized the received application form and documents.
• List of Beneficiary Selected for financial assistance for marriage will be made then.
• Rs. 50,000/- will be transferred in the given bank account of beneficiary after final approval.
