Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• To provide shelter to every underprivileged family, the Maharashtra Government has started a "Homes for All" initiative.
• As part of this, the government has initiated different housing schemes, including;
  • Shabari Awas Yojana.
  • Adim Awas Yojana.
  • Yashwantrao Chavan Mukt Vasahat Yojana.
  • Dhangar Awas Yojana.
  • Modi Awas Gharkul Yojana
• However, these schemes are unable to cater the needs of SC, Neo Buddhist Categories and BPL families.
• To fill this gap, the Maharashtra government has started "Ramai Awas Yojana" which is also known as "Ramai Awas Gharkul Yojana".
• This scheme is implemented by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department of Maharashtra.
• Ramai Awas Yojana aims to benefit economically weaker sections who belong to : -
  • Schedule Caste and Neo Buddhist Communities.
• The Ramai Awas Gharkul Yojana has been introduced by the government of Maharashtra for the development of the backward class citizens and to provide them with better housing facilities.
• With the help of this scheme, the scheduled caste and Neo-Buddhist citizens can resolve their shelter issue and improve their standard of living.
• The government has promised to provide 1.5 lakh houses to its beneficiaries, of which 25,000 houses will be provided to the Matang community.
• Beneficiaries currently living in thatched or crude houses having their own land are eligible for the scheme.
• The minimum carpet area required for the construction of a concrete house under the scheme would be 269 sq. ft.
• Government has fixed the maximum cost limit area wise for the construction of house in different areas; which are given as : -
  • Rural Areas: Rs 70,000/-
  • Municipal Area : - Rs 1,50,000/-
  • Municipal Corporation Area/ Mumbai Metropolitan Development Authority Area : - Rs 2,00,000/-
• Beneficiaries need to pay a share for house construction as per the area they belong from : -
  • Rural Area : Nil
  • Municipal Area: 7.5%
  • Metropolitan Area : 10%.
• Eligible applicants who satisfy the eligibility criteria outlined in the scheme can submit their Ramai Awas Yojana application form offline.
• As the scheme is meant for SC and Neo Buddhist category but among them preference will be given to such people who are from below mentioned categories : -
  • Individuals from BPL Categories.
  • Victims of Communal Riots and beneficiaries of flood prone areas, and
  • Widowed women with no earning member in the family.

Scheme Benefits

• Ramai Awas Gharkul Yojana provides following benefits to its eligible beneficiaries : -
  • Beneficiaries living in thatched house will receive assistance for house construction.
  • A total of 1.5 Lakh houses to be constructed under the scheme.

Eligibility Requirements

• Beneficiaries must meet the following eligibility criteria to receive the benefits of Ramai Awas Gharkul Yojana : -

  The applicant must be a permanent resident of the state. Applicants must be living in the state for the last 15 years. The beneficiary must belong to the Below Poverty Line. Benefit will be given to only one member from each family. Beneficiaries must have their own land. Beneficiaries must belong to Schedule Caste and Neo Buddhist Categories. Disabled applicants from SC category but who do not belong to BPL families are eligible for the scheme if his/her disability is more than 40% and annual income up to Rs 1 Lakh. Applicants are not receiving housing scheme benefits from other schemes. Applicants annual family income should be as per the area they belong from; such as : - Areas Annual Income Rural area Rs 1 lakh Municipal area Rs 1.50 lakh Mumbai Metropolitan area Rs 2 lakh

• Here are the lists of documents that are requested during the application process of Ramai Awas Gharkul Yojana : -
  • Property documents registered with Gram panchayat.
  • Domicile Certificate of Maharashtra.
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Caste Certificate.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Passport size photo.
  • Receipt of property tax issued from Municipality/Municipal Corporation.
  • Property Registration Card.
  • Electricity Bill (Recent).
  • Husband Death Certificate (In case of applicant is widow)
  • Flood Certificate (If any)
  • Police FIR Copy if victims of communal riots.
  • BPL Certificate.
  • Applicants home photo with family.
  • Mobile number.
  • Ration Card.
  • Election ID Card.
  • Bank Passbook.

Steps to Apply

• Eligible applicants can apply for the Ramai Awas Yojana offline.
• Applicants need to obtain the Ramai Awas Yojana Application Form from the municipal office or from the Gram Panchayat Office.
• Provide all details correctly in the scheme application form.
• Affix all documents as required for the scheme.
• Now submit this duly filled in application form at Panchayat or Municipal Department Office.
• Concerned official will verify the details provided in the application form.
• Authority will also inspect the applicant's land.
• Once the verification process is completed successfully authority will issue the assistance amount.
