Assam Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme Details
Highlights
  • Under the Assam Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme, eligible students will receive following benefits : -
    • Assistance will be provided as an admission incentive to continue their higher education.
    • Monthly assistance of Rs 1,000/- will be received by the girls enrolled in 11th class.
    • Monthly assistance of Rs 1,250/- will be give to girls enrolled in the first year of Graduation.
    • Assistance of Rs 2,500/- per month will be provided to girls enrolled for Post Graduation.
    • In a year, assistance will be provided for a maximum period of 10 months (except June and July months).

Introduction

  • It is common among girls that after completing their high school or graduation they didn't enroll for their higher education further.
  • Due to this, the number of drop out cases are increasing in the state every year.
  • To address this issue, the Assam government came up with a new scheme called the 'Assam Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme' (MMNM).
  • Under this scheme, the government will provide financial assistance to girls students as an admission incentive.
  • The said assistance will be provided to girls enrolled in the first year of Higher Education, graduation, and post graduation.
  • However, enrollment of these students must be in government institutions or institutions affiliated with them.
  • Students enrolled in private institutions are not eligible for Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme
  • The main objective of Assam Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme are : -
    • To encourage the girl students for higher education and increase their enrollment.
    • To reduce the dropout numbers.
    • To increase the state's Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER).
    • To combat social evil of child marriage.
  • Assam Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina is also known by some other names such as 'Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni' and 'Asom Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme'.
  • For its implementation, the government appoint Higher Education Department of Assam its nodal department.
  • To avail the benefit of Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina (MMNM), students must meet its eligibility guidelines.
  • Since the scheme is for girl students, only domiciled girl students of Assam are eligible for the scheme.
  • Married girls are not eligible for the scheme unless they enrolled in PG and B.Ed programme.
  • In service girls students admitted to B.Ed on deputation basis are also not eligible.
  • Assistance under the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina will be provided for a maximum period of 10 months and vary as per the enrollment.
    • Girls enrolled in class 11 will receive monthly assistance of Rs 1,000/-.
    • Those enrolled in the first year of Graduation (BA/B.Sc/ B.Com) will get Rs 1,250/- per month.
    • Students enrolled in the first year of their Post Graduation courses (MA/M.Sc/M.Com/B.Ed) will receive Rs 2,500/- monthly.
  • Government will not provide any incentive during the summer vacation or any other vacation which lasts more than one month.
  • Students enrolled for the year 2024-25 will receive benefits for a maximum period of 9 months only.
  • Every year in the months of June and July students are not going to receive benefits of Mukhya mantri Nijut Moina scheme.
  • It is expected that the scheme will benefit around 10 lakh girls across the state.
  • Eligible students can submit their Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina application offline.
  • Students can collect the application forms of Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina from their respective institutions.
  • Students will receive their benefits directly to their bank account through DBT mode.
  • For such assistance the government has allocated a fund of Rs 240 Cr.
  • Further information about the scheme can also be collected from the institutions.

  • Under the Assam Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme, eligible students will receive following benefits : -

Eligibility Criteria

  • Girls students must adhere to the eligibility criteria for Assam Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina to receive its benefit :-
    • Students must be native citizens of Assam.
    • All girl students are eligible, regardless of their caste and economic status.
    • Assistance will be provided to such girl students who are enrolled in Govt. and its affiliated college.
    • Married girls who have taken admission in P.G and B.Ed courses are also eligible.

Ineligibility Criteria

  • Students who fall under the below mentioned criteria are not eligible for the Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme :-
    • Married girls (except those admitted to PG and B.Ed Courses)
    • Girls who are in service and admitted to B.Ed course on deputation.
    • Daughters of MPs/Ministers and MLAs.
    • Girls received the benefit of Banikanta Kakati Award.

  • Interested students can apply for the Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme.
  • Application forms of Assam Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme will be accepted offline.
  • Its application forms can be obtained from students respective institutions.
  • Students must provide their details and documents in the obtained application form.
  • Now submit this duly filled in application form along with the required documents to your respective institution.
  • The principal or registrar of your institutions will verify your submitted applications.
  • Post successful verification the details of your application will be uploaded to the portal.
  • After receiving the applications, the nodal department will provide the benefits of the scheme.
