Assam Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award Scheme

Introduction

• The Assam government is continuously working for the welfare of every class and people in their state.
• To leave no stone unturned, the government consisitenly announces various welfare and beneficial schemes for their citizens.
• Among these schemes, the government has introduced 'Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award Scheme' for the toppers of their state.
• Under this scheme, the government provides a free scooter to meritorious students who have passed their higher secondary examination with flying colors.
• The main objective of the scheme, is to motivate these meritorious students to perform better in their higher education.
• Along with this, it will foster a sense of competitiveness among the students to perform betterm in their examination.
• The benefit of Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award Scheme will be provided only to its eligible students.
• The said scheme is part of the Assam Pragyan Bharathi Scheme, which provides scooters to meritorious girls students.
• However, the Pragyan Bharathi Scheme is restricted to girl children, while both boys and girls are eligible for Banikanta Kakati Merit Award Scheme.
• Under the Assam Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award, boys who secure at least 75% and girls who secure atleast 60% in theri HSSLC examination are eligible for benefits.
• If a girl beneficiary of Banikanta Kakati Merit Award Achoni also wants the benefit of Nijut Moina Scheme, then she must opt out for the scooter scheme.
• Board will publish a merit list of meritorious students who have attained the required percentage as per the scheme.
• Such a list will be uploaded online at Higher Education Department of Assam, which is the nodal department of the scheme.
• Therefore, students are not required to submit any application for Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award Scheme.
• Students enlisted in the merit list will receive an appreciation letter from their respective consignee principal.
• Student need to submit this appreciation letter to the concerned dealer.
• Students are not required to pay any amount either for registration or insurance.
• Upon receiving the scooter amount, the dealer will handover the scooter to the eligible students.
• During the process, if students face any difficulties, they can contact their respective school authority.

Benefits of Scheme

• Following benefits will be provided to all eligible students under Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award Scheme :-
  • Free of Cost Scooty/ Scooters will be Provided.

Eligibility Criteria

• Under the Assam Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award Scheme, free scooters/ scooty will be provided to students who may fulfill its below mentioned criteria :-
  • Both boys and girls students are eligible for the scheme.
  • Students must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • Students must pass the higher secondary examination conducted by the AHSEC.
  • Girls must secure 60% or more in the examination.
  • Boys must secure 75% or more in the examination.
  • Students must apply for their higher education.

Ineligibility Criteria

• Along with the eligibility criteria board has also released some ineligble conditions for the students which are given as :-
  • Those participated in the betterment and reappearance category.
  • Dropout students are also not considered for the scheme.

Documents Required

• Students must keep their below mentioned documents, when submitting applications for Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award Scheme : -
  • Identity proof.
  • School ID.
  • Address proof.
  • Higher Secondary Examination marksheet.
  • Higher Secondary Examination Certificate.
  • Application Form.
  • Passport Size photograph.

How to Apply

• Only eligible students can avail the benefit of Assam Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award Scheme.
• However, to receive its benefits, students are not required to submit any application.
• The board will prepare a list of eligible students and will upload it online at their portal.
• Shortlisted students will receive an appreciation letter from the concerned consignee principal.
• Students need to submit this appreciation letter to the dealer mentioned in it.
• After submitting the letter, the consignee principal will transfer the scooter amount to the dealer.
• Once the process is completed, students can collect their scooters from the dealers.
