Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• The Taruner Swapna Scheme is an educational reform initiative of the West Bengal Government.
• It was started in the year 2022.
• The main objective behind launching the Taruner Swapna Scheme is to facilitate the students in connecting their studies with technology.
• West Bengal Taruner Swapna Scheme is also known by some other major names in the State as mentioned below :-
  • "Taruner Swapno Scheme".
  • "Taruner Swapno Prokolpo Scheme".
  • "Taruner Swapna Prokolpa Scheme".
  • "Taruner Swapno Prakalpa Scheme".
  • "Taruner Swapna Prakalpa Scheme".
• Under the Taruner Swapna Scheme, the Government of West Bengal will provide financial assistance to students to purchase a Tablet/ Smartphone/ PC.
• Rs. 10,000/- will be provided to students under Taruner Swapna Scheme to purchase any of the below-mentioned gadgets for their study :-
  • Smartphone / Mobile Phone.
  • Tablet.
  • Personal Computer. (PC)
• Student can use this purchased Smartphone/ Tablet/ PC to study online and prepare better for their board exams.
• Initially, only Class 12th Students studying in Government-run schools or Madrasahs of the West Bengal Government are eligible to get financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- under the Taruner Swapna Scheme.
• But from the year 2024-2025, the West Bengal Government made certain amendments in this Taruner Swapno Scheme.
• Now, Students of Class 11th, ITI, Polytechnic or any undergraduate course are also eligible to apply for financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- to purchase a smartphone/ mobile phone or tablet PC under the Taruner Swapna Scheme of the West Bengal Government.
• Rs. 900/- Crore is allocated for the year 2024-2025 for the better implementation of Taruner Swapno Prakalpa.
• Only students whose Annual Family Income is below Rs. 2,00,000 per year are eligible to apply.
• This is a one-time grant from the side of Government of West Bengal.
• Till date, more than 3.67 crore students have received the benefit of free-of-cost smartphones/ tablet/ PC under the West Bengal Taruner Swapna Scheme.
• Students can apply online for the Taruner Swapna Scheme through its Official Website.
• After verification, Selected Students will get financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- to purchase a Smartphone/ Tablet/ PC under the West Bengal Taruner Swapna Scheme.
• Taruner Swapna Scheme is a DBT Scheme in which financial assistance will be directly transferred in the bank account of the beneficiary student.
• And it is mandatory to submit the purchased bill of the Smartphone/ PC/ Tablet in the school.

Scheme Benefits

• The following benefits will be provided to eligible students under the West Bengal Government's Taruner Swapna Scheme :-
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 10,000/- will be provided to purchase a Smartphone tablet or PC.

Eligibility Requirement

• The student should be a Permanent Resident of West Bengal.
• Students of Class 11th, Class 12th, ITI and Polytechnic are eligible to apply.
• The Annual Family Income of Student should not be more than Rs. 2,00,000/- per Year.
• The Student should not have any backlogs and have passed all their previous examinations.
• Students should be studying in any of the following Schools :-
  • Government of West Bengal Schools.
  • Government of West Bengal Aided Schools.
  • Government of West Bengal Sponsored Schools.
  • Government of West Bengal Recognised Madrasahs.

Required Documents

• The mentioned below are required to avail the benefit of financial assistance for the purchase of a Smartphone/ Tablet/ PC under the West Bengal Government's Taruner Swapna Scheme :-
  • Residence Proof of West Bengal.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • School Identity Card.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Caste Certificate. (If Applicable)
  • Bank Account Details.

Steps to Apply

• The Government of West Bengal has launched a special portal for the Taruner Swapna Scheme, where eligible students can submit their applications to avail Rs. 10,000/- financial support for buying a tablet or smartphone.
  • The online application process for Taruner Swapna Scheme 2025 is currently open.
• Students need to visit the Official Website of Taruner Swapna Scheme and click on the "Apply Now" option.
  
• A login page will appear where the student must enter their Student Code (Banglar Shiksha ID).
• The portal will then verify the Student Code through OTP authentication, which will be sent to the registered mobile number of the applicant student.
• After successful authentication, a pre-filled online application form will be displayed on the screen with the student's details already available.
• Applicants should carefully check all the details shown in the form and then proceed to verify their Aadhaar Number via OTP.
• Once Aadhaar is verified, a welcome confirmation message will be displayed stating that the student is eligible to receive benefits under the Taruner Swapna Scheme.
  
• Following this, the Rs. 10,000/- financial assistance promised under the Taruner Swapna Prakalpa will be directly credited to the bank account provided by the student.
• After purchasing the tablet or smartphone, the student must submit the purchase bill to their school, which will later be forwarded to the Education Department for record and verification.
