Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
- The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a scheme called "Mini Nandini Krishak Samridhi Yojana".
- Under this scheme, the state government is providing a grant of up to Rs 11.80 Lakh for setting up a unit of 10 Indigenous breeds of cow.
- The primary objective of the scheme is to make Uttar Pradesh a leading state in milk production.
- Through this scheme, a milk cooperative will also be formed at the village level, which enables milk producer to sell their milk at a reasonable price.
- The scheme was announced in 2023, is one of the four schemes under the Uttar Pradesh Nand Baba Dugdh Mission.
- The other three schemes of the mission are: -
- Currently, the scheme is operational across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
- For 2025-26, the government has set a target to establish at least 600 units across all districts.
- Under the Mini Nandini Krishak Samridhi Scheme, applicants are required to establish a unit of ten cows, with an establishment cost of Rs 23.60 lakh.
- For this establishment amount, the beneficiary's part should be 15 per cent, and it can borrow 35 per cent as a loan, while the remaining amount will be provided as a subsidy.
- The cow purchased under the scheme must be of specific breeds, such as Sahiwal, Gir, and Tharparkar.
- The cattle bought should be in their first or second lactation stage, and they must not have calved before 45 days.
- The land used for the unit established must be 0.20 acres, while an additional 0.80 acres is mandatory for fodder production.
- The land used for the unit production must be owned or ancestral, or taken on contract/lease for a minimum period of 7 years.
- Beneficiaries of Kamdhenu, Mini Kamdhenu, Micro Kamdhenu Scheme or Nandini Krishak Samridhi Yojana, or Swadeshi Gau Samvardhan Scheme of Nand Baba Dugdh Mission are not eligible for this scheme.
- To receive the benefit of the scheme, the applicant must have at least three years of experience in cow or buffalo rearing.
- Applicants meeting all the eligibility conditions can apply online for the Mini Nandini Krishak Samridhi Yojana.

Eligibility Requirement
- The beneficiary must be a local resident.
- Applicants must possess an Aadhaar Card or a valid identity proof.
- Applicants must have at least three years of experience in cow or buffalo rearing.
- Must have a minimum of 0.20 acres of land for unit establishment.
- An additional 0.80 acres of land is mandatory for fodder production.
- The land used for the scheme must be owned by the applicants, ancestral or taken on a lease/rent for a minimum period of 7 years.
- Beneficiaries of the following schemes are not eligible:
- Kamdhenu.
- Mini Kamdhenu.
- Micro Kamdhenu Scheme.
- Nandini Krishak Samridhi Yojana
- Swadeshi Gau Samvardhan Yojana.

Steps to Apply
- Eligible beneficiaries can submit their application for the Uttar Pradesh Mini Nandini Krishak Samridhi Yojana to receive its benefits.
- Applications for the Mini Nandini Krishak Samridhi Scheme are invited online through the Mission portal.
- The application window opens for a limited period of time.
- For the year 2025-26, the application was live from 14 July 2025 and closed on its extended date, i.e. 23 August 2025.
- Before applying, applicants must complete registration on the mission portal.
- Post registration, log in using the credentials received.
- Fill out the application form and upload the required documents.
- All submitted applications will be verified by the committee formed under the leadership of the Chief Development Officer.
- If received applications is more than the expectation, the beneficiary will be selected through an e-lottery.
Important Points
- Before issuing a grant, the established unit will be inspected by the authority.
- The grant will only be provided for 50% of the total unit establishment cost, i.e. Rs 11.80 Lakh.
- The remaining amount must be arranged by the beneficiary.
- For this, they can avail of a bank loan, which should not exceed 35% of the total cost.
- If the establishment cost exceeds the limit, i.e. Rs 23.60 lakh, the excess amount must be borne by the beneficiaries.
- The cattle shed and related infrastructure must be as per the recommended standards.
- Any additional cost incurred during the construction will be borne by the beneficiary.
- The grant under the scheme will be provided in two equal instalments.
- The first instalment will be provided after on-field verification of the construction unit.
- The second instalment will be provided upon submission of an application for the purchase of 10 cows.
- The beneficiaries selected for the scheme are allowed to purchase mixed Sahiwal, Gir, and Tharparkar breeds of cows.
- The cow must be purchased outside the state and, if possible, from the same breeding tract of the respective breed.
- The vaccination of the cow must be completed after its purchase.
- An ear tag must be affixed to each cow.
- A one-time insurance for three years is mandatory for all cows.
- All cows purchased under the scheme must be healthy and disease-free.
