  • The scheme is also popular by other names, such as "Telangana Cheyutha Yojana" or "Telangana Cheyutha Pathakam" or "Rajiv Aarogyasri Cheyutha Scheme".
  • Under this initiative, the state government is providing free medical and healthcare facilities up to Rs 10 lakh to the Economically Backward Section.
  • Apart from this, the government also provides a monthly pension of Rs 4,000/- through Telangana Cheyutha Pension Scheme.
  • The medical and healthcare coverage of Rs 10 lakh provided under the scheme will be catered through Rajiv Aarogyasri Initiative, a trust formed by the state government to provide quality health care to the poor.
  • Beneficiaries can avail of these free corporate medical treatment at the empanelled hospitals.
  • The Telangana Cheyutha Scheme was announced during the state assembly election and was part of congress party's election manifesto.
  • More than 90 lakh families living below the poverty line will be covered from this scheme
  • Under the previous government, the coverage provided under the Aarogyasri scheme was Rs 5 lakh.
  • However, the government has doubled the amount from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh per family per annum.
  • Also, the government has added 163 new treatments into the existing list of 1672 treatments, bringing the total to 1,835.
