Introduction

• YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme is the prominent scheme of Andhra Pradesh Government for the welfare of Farmers.
• It was started in the the year 2019.
• Agriculture & Cooperation Department of Andhra Pradesh Government is the nodal department of this scheme.
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to provide the financial assistance to farmers in case of their crop loss due to adverse weather conditions.
• This scheme is also called Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme.
• All the Farmers, Cultivators, Sharecroppers and Tenant Farmers are eligible under YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme.
• Beneficiary has to pay Rs. 1/- as a token amount for registration under YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme.
• Now the YSR Free Insurance Scheme is divided into Yield Base Crop Insurance and Weather Based Crop Insurance.
• Yield Based Crop Insurance claims will be settled on the basis of Post Harvest Losses.
• Whereas Weather Based Crop Insurance claims will be settled on the basis of weather data furnished by the appropriate authority.
• Farmers will avail the benefit of YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme by registering themselves through :-
  • Rythu Bandhu Kendra's/ Meeseva Centres by submitting Application Form.
  • Navasakam Beneficiary Management Portal by registering themselves.

• Resident of Andhra Pradesh.
• Should be Cultivator/ Farmer.
• Sharecroppers and Tenants Farmers are also Eligible.

How to Apply

Features of the Scheme

• YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme is compulsory for the Loanee Farmers.
• It is a voluntary scheme for Non Loanee Farmers.
• Farmer has to pay the premium of Rs. 1/- to facilitate the electronic tracking.
• No compensation will be paid if loss occurred due to malicious damage.
• More than 44 lakhs farmers registered under YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme.
