Scheme Introduction : A Brief Overview

• Finance Minister of India Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman had announced to start PM Internship Scheme at the time of presenting the supplementary budget in Parliament.
• Now, PM Internship Scheme is launched by Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi on 3rd of October 2024.
• The main objective behind starting this scheme is to empower youth of India for Viksit Bharat.
• PM Internship Scheme will offer real life working environments to youths and help them to nourish their skills and gain some work experience.
• Ministry of Corporate Affairs is the nodal ministry of this scheme.
• The aim of PM Internship Scheme is to provide internship to 1 Crore youth in a time span of 5 years in top 500 companies.
• For the year 2024-2025, this scheme is started as a pilot project in which 1.25 lakh youth will be selected for internship under Prime Minister Internship Scheme.
• Government of India will select top 500 companies in which selected youths will get internship for 12 months.
• The time duration of internship provided under this scheme is 12 months out of which 6 months should be spent by interns in the real job environment.
• Monthly Stipend of Rs. 5,000/- per month will be provided to youths selected for internship under PM Internship Scheme.
• Out of which Rs. 500/- per month will be provided by the company and Rs. 4,500/- per month will be provided by the Government of India.
• Apart from monthly stipend, One Time Financial Assistance of Rs. 6,000/- will also provided by Central Government to selected youth at the time of their joining.
• Beneficiary Youth will also get Insurance Coverage under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
• Premium of both the schemes will be paid by the government.
• Only those youths whose age is between 21 years to 24 years are eligible to apply for internship under PM Internship Scheme.
• Full time employees and full time students who enrolled in regular courses are not eligible to apply.
• Beneficiary Youth who passed any of the below mentioned educational course are eligible to apply for internship under PM Internship Scheme :-
  • 10th.
  • 12th.
  • ITI.
  • Polytechnic Diploma.
  • BA.
  • B.Sc.
  • B.Com.
  • BCA.
  • BBA.
  • B.Pharma etc
• CA, MBBS, BDS, MBA, CMA degree holders are not eligible to apply for internship under PM Internship Scheme.
• Government of India launch a dedicated Portal of PM Internship Scheme.
• Registration, Shortlisting, Selection, Offer Letter from Companies and all other processes of PM Internship Scheme will be done through the official portal.
• Eligible and Beneficiary Youth can Register themselves under PM Internship Scheme from 12th of October 2024 at 5 PM.
• The last date to apply for internship under PM Internship Scheme is 25th of October 2024.
• Ministry of Corporate Affairs will shortlist the candidates for internship on 26th of October.
• Partner Companies will finalize the candidate for 12 month internship till 7th of November.
• Internship under PM Internship Scheme will start from 2nd of December 2024.
• Online Application Form of Prime Minister Internship Scheme is available on the Official Portal.

Scheme Benefits

• Beneficiary Youth will get the following benefits as an intern under Central Government's PM Internship Scheme :-
  • Internship Training for 12 Months will be provided.
  • Monthly Stipend of Rs. 5,000/- will be paid to each intern.
  • One Time Financial Assistance of Rs. 6,000/- at the time of joining the internship.
  • Training Cost will be borne by the Company.
  • Insurance Coverage to Beneficiary Youth under PM Suraksha Bima Yojana and PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana.
  • Premium of this Insurance Scheme will be paid by Government.
  • Certificate of Internship Completion will be provided.

Sectors of Internship under Scheme

• Eligible Youths can apply for internship under PM Internship Scheme in any of the below mentioned sectors according to their educational qualifications :-

  Health Care. Hospitality and Travel. Jewelry and Gems. Textile Manufacturing. Consulting Services. Agriculture and Allied. Entertainment and Education. Media. Chemical. Manufacturing and Industrial. Aviation and Defense. Pharmaceutical. Automotive. Cement and Building Materials. Retail and Consumer Durables. Infrastructure and Construction. Telecom. Fast Moving Consumer Goods. Metal and Mining. Oil, Gas and Energy. Banking and Financial Services. IT and Software Development.

Eligibility Requirements

• Internship opportunity under PM Internship Scheme will only provided to those youths who fulfil the following eligibility conditions of scheme :-
  • Only Indian Youths are Eligible to Apply.
  • Beneficiary Youth should be 10th or above passed.
  • Age of Beneficiary Youth should be between 21 Years to 24 Years.
  • Beneficiary Youth should not be in Full Tme Employment.
  • Beneficiary Youth should not be in any Regular/ Full Time Educational Course.
  • The Annual Family Income of Beneficiary Youth should not be more than Rs. 8 Lakh per year.
  • There should be no Government Employee in Youths Family.
  • Beneficiary Youth enrolled in Online or Distance Education Course are eligible to apply.

Ineligibility Criteria

• Government of India also sets the ineligibility conditions of this scheme. Those youths are not eligible to apply for internship under Prime Minister Internship Scheme who fulfil any of the below mentioned ineligibility criteria :-

  If Family has Regular/ Permanent Government Employee. If the annual family income is more than Rs. 8,00,000/- per year. Beneficiary of National Apprentice Training Scheme or National Apprentice Promotion Scheme. Beneficiary of any other Skill, Apprenticeship, Student Training or Internship of State/ Central Government. Master or Higher Degree Passed Youth. (CA, MBS, MBA, BDS etc.) IIT, IIM, NLU, IISER, NID and IIIT.

Required Documents

• The documents which are required to be uploaded on the website at the time of applying for 12 months internship under PM Internship Scheme are as follows :-
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Education Related Documents.
  • Passport Size Photo.
  • Bank Account Details.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Aadhar Card.

Steps to Apply

• Eligible Youths can apply for 12 month internship under Prime Minister Internship Scheme through Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form of PM Internship Scheme is available on its Official Website.
• Visit the Official Website of PM Internship Scheme and Click on Register Now.
  
• PM Internship Scheme Registration will open from 12th of October 2024.
• Fill the basic details like name, father name, email id and mobile number in the Registration Form.
• After clicking on submit button, website will sent User ID and One Time Password on the email address of beneficiary youth.
• Login with the help of recieved User ID/ Mobile Number and Password.
  
• Fill the asked details in the Online Application Form of Prime Minister Internship Scheme.
• Beneficiary Youth has to mandatorily filled the below mentioned details in PM Internship Scheme Application Form :-
  • Location of Internship.
  • Nature of Internship.
  • Educational Qualification.
  • Preferred Sector.
  • Functional Role.
• Beneficiary Youth can select up to 5 internship opportunities.
• Review the Application Form and Click on Submit Button to Submit it.
• Submitted Application Forms will be verified by the concerned officials.
• Youths will be shortlisted according to their preferences and their resume will be generated automatically.
• SC, ST, OBC, Person with Disabilities will be preferred first for selection.
• Resume of shortlisted youth will be then forwarded to participated companies.
• Participated Companies of PM Internship Scheme will select interns according to their rules and regulations.
• Company will then sent offer letter to selected youths.
• Beneficiary Youth can accept the offer letter through Official Website.
• Selected Youth will have to join internship on date and time mentioned in the offer letter.
• Monthly Stipend of Rs. 5,000/- and One Time Financial Assistance of Rs. 6,000/- as promised under PM Internship Scheme will be transferred directly in the bank account of beneficiary youth.
• Application for PM Internship Scheme is live now to apply.
• Beneficiary Youth can apply for internship under PM Internship Scheme till 25-10-2024.
