Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• The newly appointed Odisha government has recently launched the "Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana".
• Initially, the scheme was part of the BJP election manifesto, and after winning the election, the BJP fulfilled its promise by extending its benefits to eligible beneficiaries.
• The main objective of the scheme is to provide financial support to the children of 'CM Kisan Yojana' beneficiaries for their higher studies.
• It will allow children of Small and Marginal Farmers and Landless Agricultural Households to access higher education without financial constraints.
• Children whose parents or guardians are CM Kisan scheme beneficiaries can apply for Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana.
• The announced scheme is also known by other names such as "Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana" or "Krushi Vidya Nidhi Yojana" or "Krishi Vidya Nidhi Scheme".
• This scheme will replace previous government scheme called as 'Kalia Scholarship', offering similar benefits.
• Students studying in government, private or in premier institutes are eligible for scholarship.
• Scheme offers scholarships for professional, technical courses which includes medical, engineering, agriculture and allied, nursing, diploma and various trades in ITI.
• The Krishi Vidya Nidhi Scheme scholarships are awarded purely on a merit basis.
• However, students who are already availing other scholarship benefits are not entitled for this, they can opt out for their current scholarship to receive benefits of Krishi Vidya Nidhi Scheme.
• The authority has shared a detailed list of programs that are entitled to receive scheme benefits.
• Students in government institutions will receive tuition fees, annual fees, one time fees, hostel fees, and other non refundable charges submitted by the students.
• However, caution money and charges that are refundable will not be covered under the scheme.
• If any students receive a fellowship award for the PhD programme, the assistance amount will be deducted from course fee and applicants will receive the balance amount.
• Students enrolled in premier institutes such as NIT, IIT, IIM, AIIMS, ICAR etc. (whether inside or outside the state) will receive a maximum scholarship of one lakh or as recommended by the institution (whichever is less).
• Hostel or mess charges under the scheme will be provided for a maximum of 10 months.
• As per the guidelines, students of UG, PG, PhD, and premiere institutes will receive Rs 1,200 for hostel/mess charges, while diploma/ITI/polytechnic students will receive Rs 1,000/-
• The scholarship amount will be credited directly to students bank account, subject to the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria.
• Applicants can submit the Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana application online through the Odisha State Scholarship Portal.
• The application window will remain open twice a year i.e. during the July or August month and during November or December.
• Students can check the list of courses and fee structure for private and self financing courses in the scheme guidelines.

Scheme Benefits

• The Odisha government will provide following benefits under the 'Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana' : -
  • Students will receive a scholarship for UG, PG, PhD, Diploma, ITI and Polytechnic Courses.
  • Scholarships will be offered to both government and private institution students.
  • Scholarship includes tuition fees, annual fees, one time fees, hostel/mess charges.
  • UG/PG/PhD students will receive Rs 1,200/-, whereas diploma/ polytechnic/ ITI students will get Rs 1,000/- for hostel/mess charges.
  • Hostel/Mess charges will be provided for 10 months.

Eligibility Requirements

• To receive the Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana Scholarship benefits, eligible students need to meet the given eligibility criteria : -
  
  • Applicants must be domiciled residents of Odisha.
  • Applicants must be children of CM Kisan Scheme beneficiaries.
  • Applicant's parents must be eligible for the CM Kisan Scheme.
  • Students must have secured admission based on merit in government or private institutions.
  • Students already receiving other scholarship benefits are not eligible unless they opt out from that scholarship.
  • Students can receive scheme benefits for one professional course only.
  • Institutions located outside the state are not eligible.
  • Students can not avail more than one scholarship for similar courses.
  • Students must have a valid bank account.

Required Documents

• Those intending to apply for 'Krishi Vidya Nidhi Scheme,' must upload their following documents in the given size and format : -
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Caste Certificate.
  • Address Proof.
  • Bank Passbook.
  • Passport Size Photograph.
  • Ration Card.
  • Parent/Guardian Identity Proof.
  • Matric Certificate.
  • Last Exam passed the marksheet.
  • Self Declaration Certificate (for EBC and General)
    

Steps to apply

• Eligible applicants can apply for the Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana online.
• Applicants must submit their applications before its deadline.
• The last date to submit Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana application form online is 25 December 2024.
• Application procedure for Krushi Vidya Nidhi Yojana will go through two stages : -
  • Applicant Online Registration.
  • Application Form Submission.

Online Registration

• To start the application procedure, applicants must register at the Odisha State Scholarship Portal.
• For this, applicants need to visit the Odisha State Scholarship Portal.
• Select the 'Register Here' tab under the 'Login' section.
• Read the details that appeared on the screen and proceed by clicking the checkbox.
• Enter your Aadhaar number and press the 'Get OTP' tab.
• Enter the OTP sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
• Provide the required details and submit it to complete the registration process.
• Post registration, applicants will receive an email.

Application Process

• Applicants can submit the application form for the Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana online.
• For this, applicants need to visit the Odisha State Scholarship Portal.
• On the home page, select the 'Apply Now' tab available under the 'Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana'.
  
• Provide your Aadhaar number and password to log in.
  
• Go to the 'Scheme and eligibility' section.
• Tap on the 'Apply' tab appeared next to the scheme name.
  
• Provide your personal, academic, and account information.
  
• Aadhaar based face authentication is mandatory to complete the application process.
• Submit this application and await approval.
• Received applications will be verified by the concerned nodal authority.
• Applicants will receive an SMS or email regarding the approval or rejection of application.
• The application status can also be tracked through applicants respective dashboard.
