Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• The Madhya Pradesh government actively support school students by launching various schemes to help them perform better in their examinations.
• Continuing these efforts, the state government has announced "Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana" for intermediate students.
• Under this scheme, the state government is distributing free laptops to meritorious intermediate students.
• Started in the year 2022-2023, the government either distribute laptops directly or provides assistance for their purchase.
• The scheme is popularly known by several names, such as "MP Free Laptop Yojana", "MP Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Scheme", or "Laptop Distribution Scheme".
• To purchase a laptop, each student receives financial assistance of Rs 25,000/-.
• This amount is credited directly to their bank account via the DBT mode.
• In 2025, the government distributed Rs 25,000/- to 94,234 students.
• The benefits of the MP Free Laptop Scheme will be provided to such students who secure 75% or more in their intermediate examination.
• They can check their eligibility, account details and payment status online from the Shiksha Portal.
• The education department collects details of the students who secure 75% and above.
• Based on this list, the respective district department collects students' bank account details.
• For this, students have to provide their bank account details within the prescribed timeline.
• Students are not required to submit a separate application for MP Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana.
• If any students secure 75% or above in the examination but do not find their name in the list, they can raise a grievance online.
• Along with this scheme, the government also distribute free cycles to class 6 and 9 students under its Free Cycle Distribution Scheme.

Scheme Benefits

• Under the Madhya Pradesh Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana, the state government provides the following benefits: -
  • A free laptop to meritorious students, or
  • A cash assistance of Rs 25,000/- to purchase a laptop.
  • The assistance amount will be credited to the student's bank account.

Eligibility Requirement

• Students who meet the following eligibility criteria are eligible for MP Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana benefits: -
  • Must have passed their Intermediate from a recognised school.
  • Must be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Must have secured 75% or above marks in the intermediate examination.

Required Documents

• The School Department may ask students to provide the following documents: -
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Bank Passbook.
  • Inter Marksheet.
  • Mobile Number.

Steps to Apply

• Students are not required to apply for Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana.
• The school authority will prepare a list of beneficiary students who secured more than 75%.
• Students shortlisted in the list need to provide their bank account details.
• Ensure that the account is in the student's name.
• Based on this list, the School Education Department will distribute a laptop or credit the assistance amount under the scheme.
• The assistance amount will be credited to the student's bank account via the DBT mode.

How to Check Payment Status Online?

• Students shortlisted under the scheme can check their payment status online.
• First, they must visit MP Shiksha Portal.
• Select "Laptop Distribution" on the home page. 
  
• Click on the E-payment status. 
  
• Select "View Your Payment status".
  
• Enter your roll number and year from the list and tap on the get details.
