Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• The Government of Meghalaya announced the launch of the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme during the state budget presentation for the financial year 2025–26.
• Fulfilling this announcement, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma officially rolled out the CM Scholarship Scheme in the state on 25 August 2025.
• The purpose of introducing this scheme is to make quality education accessible and motivate students to continue higher studies.
• The Education Department of Meghalaya has been assigned the responsibility of implementing the CM Scholarship Scheme.
• The government will extend yearly financial assistance to all eligible students, helping them cover their educational expenses.
• Every student from Class 11 to Ph.D. level can receive a scholarship of Rs. 6,000 per year under the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme of the Meghalaya Government.
• Students from all income groups are eligible to apply; no income criterion is required.
• The government has projected that nearly 80,000 students will benefit annually from the Rs. 6,000 scholarship under this scheme.
• Both the application and the fund transfer process will be carried out online to ensure a transparent and time-bound distribution of benefits.
• The online application form for Meghalaya's Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme is available on the Meghalaya One Portal.
• Applications will be open from 1 September 2025.
• Students are required to register, submit the online form, and avail the benefit of annual scholarship of Rs.6,000.
• In case of any queries or issues, students can reach out to their District Education Officer (DEO) for assistance.

Scheme Benefits

• Students studying from Class 11th to Ph.D. level will receive an annual scholarship benefit.
• A financial assistance of Rs. 6,000/- per year will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of all eligible beneficiary students.

Eligibility Requirement

• Applicant should be a permanent resident of Meghalaya.
• Students from Class 11th to Ph.D. level can apply for this scheme.
• A functional bank account, an active email ID, and a mobile number are compulsory.
• Only students enrolled in full-time regular courses are eligible.
• Those pursuing part-time or distance education programs cannot apply.
• There is no restriction on minimum or maximum family income for eligibility.

Steps to Apply

• Eligible students can submit their applications online to receive a scholarship of Rs. 6,000/- under the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme launched by the Government of Meghalaya.
• The Meghalaya Government has provided a special digital platform called Meghalaya One, where students can register themselves and apply for this scheme.
• Go to the Meghalaya One Portal and select the Services section.
• Look for the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme option and click to proceed.
• Complete information about the CM Scholarship Scheme will be displayed on the screen.
• Applicants must confirm their eligibility before moving forward with the application process.
• To begin, click on the Login to Apply button for the Meghalaya CM Scholarship Scheme.
• A pop-up window will appear with basic instructions from where new students must click on Register as New User.
• Registration on the Meghalaya One Portal can be done in two ways: either by using a PDS/ Ration Card Number or by providing an EPIC (Voter ID Card) Number.
• Choose your preferred method, enter the respective ID number, and then press Authenticate.
• Fill in all the required details in the registration form and submit it.
• After successful registration, sign in using your Mobile Number, EPIC Number, or Member ID.
• After logging in, select the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme 2025 and open the online application form.
• Students are required to provide personal details, contact details, banking information, and academic details in the application form.
• Upload all supporting documents in PDF format on the portal.
• Carefully preview the application form and then click on the Submit button.
• The submitted applications will be reviewed and verified by officials of the Education Department.
• Those who are found eligible will be awarded a yearly scholarship of Rs. 6,000/- under the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme of the Meghalaya Government.
• The online application process for students will be open from 1st September 2025.
