Introduction

• Jharkhand Government runs lots of social security schemes for the residents of state.
• Each scheme specifically targets the needy section of society and helps them to improve their standard of living.
• Now Jharkhand Government announced to start new scheme which will directly deliver the benefit to Women and Girls of Jharkhand.
• Mahila Evam Kishori Kalyan Yojana is going to be the major welfare scheme of Jharkhand Government started for the welfare of Women and Girls.
• The main objective behind launching Mahila Evam Kishori Kalyan Yojana is to encourage the Widow Remarriage, to improve hygienic condition among Women and Girls and to eradicate the malnourisment in pregnant women and lactating mothers.
• Department of Women, Child Development & Social Security is the nodal department of this scheme.
• This Scheme is also called "Jharkhand Women and Girl Welfare Scheme" or "Jharkhand Mahila Evam Kishori Kalyan Scheme".

• Above mentioned sub schemes are just possibility, there is no announcement from Jharkhand Government regarding dividing Mahila Evam Kishori Kalyan Yojana into sub schemes.
• Jharkhand Government provides the following benefit to all beneficiaries under Mahila Evam Kishori Kalyan Yojana :-
  • To encourage Widow Women to Remarry, A Financial Assistance will be provided at the time of marriage.
  • To End Malnutrition in Pregnant Women, Nutritious Food will be provided to all Pregnant Women of Jharkhand State at the time of their Pregnancy.
  • To Make Sure the Safety and Health of Mother and her Child, A Matritva Care Kit having daily care items will be provided to every lactating mother.
  • And to Improve Health and Hygiene among Women and Girls, Free of Cost Sanitary Napkins/ Pads will be distributed on monthly basis.
• So it is clear that only Widow, Pregnant Women, Lactating Mother, And Women and Girls are eligible to avail the benefit of Mahila Evam Kishori Kalyan Yojana.
