Introduction

• Odisha Kalia Scheme is the prominent scheme of the Odisha Government for farmers..
• It was started in the year 2019.
• Department of Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment is the nodal department of Odisha Kalia Scheme.
• Kalia in Odisha Kalia Scheme stands for Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation.
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to make growth in Agriculture sector and reduce poverty in the State.
• Odisha Kalia Scheme is a package for farmers welfare.
• In this scheme government will provide financial assistance to all those people who are directly or indirectly engaged in agriculture activities.
• Rs. 5,000/- per season per small and marginal farmer family will be provided under Odisha Kalia Scheme.
• Apart from that Rs. 12,500/- in three installment will also be given to Landless Agriculture Households.
• Vulnerable Agriculture Household will also receive financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- per year.
• For Farmers and Landless Agriculture Households, there is a life insurance cover of Rs. 2 Lakh.
• Interest Free Crop Loan of Rs. 50,000/- will also be provided under Odisha Kalia Scheme.
• Scholarship will also be provided to the children of Kalia Scheme Beneficiaries.

Eligibility Criteria

• The following categories of Farmers/ People are eligible for Odisha Kalia Scheme :-
  • Small and Marginal Farmers.
  • Land Less Agricultural Households.
  • Vulnerable Agricultural Household.
  • Landless Agriculture Labourers.
  • Sharecroppers.

Documents Required

• Resident Proof.
• Occupational Proof - which includes Farming loan details.
• Bank Account Details
• Age Proof.
• Disability Proof, if any.

Procedure For Taking Benefits

• Farmer/ Beneficiary has to fill the application form and submit it to the Gram Panchayat Office of his area.
• The photocopies of the following documents will be attached with the application form :-
  • Latest Record of Right (RoR) of Land / RoR recorded with Barga / Patta Record / Forest Patta.
  • Voter ID Card.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • First Page of Bank Passbook or Cancelled Cheque.
  • Passport Size Photo.
  • Mobile Number.
• After submitting the form and documents, an Acknowledgement Slip will be issued to the applicant.
• The Application Form and attached documents will be thoroughly scrutinized.
• The information about the form is accepted or rejected will be given to the applicant on his given mobile number.

Features of the Scheme

• Odisha Kalia Scheme is Direct to Benefit Transfer Scheme.
• More than 60 Lakh people will get benefitted under this scheme.
• Beneficiary has to pay a premium of Rs. 330/- for life insurance cover out of which Rs. 165/- will be borne by government.
• For Accidental Cover beneficiary has to pay Rs. 12/- as a premium out of which Rs. 6 will be borne by the government.
• Landless Agriculture Households will get financial assistance in three installments.
• No serving or retired employee of centre or state government are eligible under Odisha Kalia Scheme.
