Overview Of The Scheme
Name of the Scheme Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) - Housing for All.
Launched on 25th June 2015.
Objective To provide pucca houses, electricity connection, LPG Connection and Driniking Water Connection.
Nodal Ministry Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Introduction

  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was launched by Government of India on 25th June 2015.
  • To provide housing for all urban poor with a target of 20 million affordable houses by 31st of March 2022.
  • Now this scheme is extended to March 2024.
  • This scheme provides central assistance to the implementing agencies through state/union territories and
    Central Nodal Agencies to provide housing for eligible families.
  • It is the programme that is initiated to avail the housing facility to the urban poor.
  • The main objective of this plan is to provide financial assistance to some of the weakest sections of society to build a house for their personal living.
  • Vision: - To replace all temporary (kutcha) houses from Indian villages.
  • The following persons will be eligible under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY):-
    • Applicant under the age group of 70.
    • Do not availed any government subsidy benefit under PMAY scheme.
    • Who have not any property under his name and along with any family member.
  • Home renovation and self construction loan will be availed only to applicants who come under the category of EWS and LIG.
  • Eligible Persons Can Avail the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) by applying in the following manner:-

Eligibility

  • Applicant under the age group of 70.
  • Do not availed any government subsidy benefit under PMAY scheme.
  • Who have not any property under his name and along with any family member.
  • PMAY is applicable to borrowers belonging to the :-
    Beneficiary Annual Income
    Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Up to Rs.3 lakh
    Lower Income Group (LIG) Rs.3 lakh to Rs.6 lakh
    Middle Income Group I (MIG I) Rs.6 lakh to Rs.12 lakh
    Middle Income Group I (MIG II) Rs.12 lakh to Rs.18 lakh

Benefits of the schemes:-

  • The Following Facilities are provided under the scheme includes :-
    • facility of houses have a toilet,
    • electricity connection,
    • LPG connection,
    • drinking water and
    • Jan dhan banking facilities, etc.
  • Apart From the above mentioned facilities the following benefits are provided :-
    Beneficiary Annual Income
    Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
    • An interest subsidy of 6.5% is provided to the beneficiary.
    • Maximum loan tenure is 20 years.
    Lower Income Group (LIG)
    Middle Income Group I (MIG I)
    • An interest subsidy of 4% is provided to the beneficiary.
    • Maximum loan tenure is 20 years.
    Middle Income Group I (MIG II)
    • An interest of 3% is provided to the beneficiary.
    • Maximum loan tenure is 20 years.

Steps to apply for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(Urban):-

  • To get financial assistance under the Scheme the candidate has to first go to PMAY Portal
  • First of all, the applicant has to Register himself/herself on the J&K Mission PMAY Portal.
  • After registration, the applicant will have to login to the portal with the given login ID and password.
  • Select citizen assessment drop down and click on benefits under 3 components.
  • Submit your aadhar details for authentication
  • Fill the basic details and upload the required documents as required.
  • After filling all the information, the application form has to be submitted.
  • After the application is submitted, the application form will be verified by the concerned officer.
  • After the approval of the application form, the applicant will be informed.

For slum dwellers:

  • Same procedure is followed to apply for the scheme. In the initial stage just go to the website pmaymis.gov.in.
  • Select citizen assessment drop down and click at slum dwellers. Remaining steps are same as the above.

  1. What is Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) ?
    Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was launched by Government of India to provide housing for all urban poor with a target of 20 million affordable houses by 31st of March 2022. The main objective of this plan is to provide financial assistance to some of the weakest sections of society to build a house for their personal living.
  2. What is In-Situ Slum Redevelopment?
    In-Situ Slum redevelopment is a central Assistance of Rs.1,00,000 per house is allotted for all houses built for eligible slum dwellers using land as Resource with participation of private developers.
  3. What is Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS)?
    Interest Subsidy up to Rs 2,67,000 per house is allotted for Beneficiaries of
    • Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
    • Low Income Group (LIG),
    • Middle Income Group (MIG)-I
    • Middle Income Group (MIG)-II seeking housing loans from Banks, Housing Finance Companies and other such institutions for acquiring/constructing houses.
    The interest subsidies of 6.5%, 4% and 3% on loan amount up to Rs. 6 lakh, Rs. 9 lakh and Rs. 12 lakh are allotted for a house with carpet area of up to 60, 160 and 200 Sq.Meter for EWS/LIG, MIG I and MIG II respectively. The benefit for EWS/LIG beneficiaries under CLSS works out to as high as Rs. 6 lakh over a loan period of 20 years.
  4. What is Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP)?
    Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) aims at providing central assistance of Rs 1,50,000 per EWS house where at least 35% of the houses in the projects are for EWS category and a single project has at least 250 houses.
  5. What is Beneficiary led individual house construction enhancements (BLC)?
    Under this component, Central Assistance of Rs.1.5 lakh is available to individual eligible families belonging to EWS categories to either construct new houses or enhance existing houses on their own to cover the beneficiaries who are not able to take advantage of any other component of the Mission.
    If the beneficiary has a pucca house with carpet area of up to 21 sq. mt. area or a semi-pucca house, lacking in one of the facilities- i.e. room, kitchen, toilet, bath or a combination of these, it may be taken up for enhancement subject to ULB/State ensuring structural safety of the house and adherence to following conditions:
    • The total carpet area after enhancement must not be less than 21 sq. mt and must not be more than 30 sq. mt.
    • Enhancement shall mean addition of minimum carpet area of 9.0 square meters in to the existing house with pucca construction of at least one habitable room or room with kitchen and/or bathroom and/or toilet conforming to NBC norms.
  6. Which nodal agencies are operating or responsible for disbursal of the subsidy under Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS)?

  7. What is criteria for EWS LIG MIG categories for the purpose of the Scheme?
    The EWS/LIG/MIG categories are defined as follows:
    • EWS households income upto Rs. 3.00 lakhs per annum.
    • LIG households income between Rs. 3.00 lakhs to Rs. 6.00 lakhs per annum.
    • MIG-I households income between Rs. 6.00 lakhs to Rs. 12.00 lakhs per annum.
    • MIG-II households income between Rs. 12.00 lakhs to Rs. 18.00 lakhs per annum. States/UTs have flexibility to redefine the annual income criteria as per local needs with the approval of Ministry.
