Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Education Assurance Scheme

Introduction

• Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Education Assurance Scheme is a flagship scheme of Tamil Nadu Government.
• This scheme has been named after the famous social and political activist and renowned author of Tamil Nadu Late Smt. Moovalur Ramamirtham.
• It is run by the Department of Social Welfare and Women Empowerment of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
• Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme is also called "Pudhumai Penn Scheme" and "Puthumai Penn Scheme".
• Government observed that due to financial constraints students, mainly girls, discontinue their education post completing intermediate.
• Even if the parents of those girls want, they are not able to teach them further because of the cost of education.
• Due to all these reasons, girls are deprived of education and they get married early.
• Keeping all these points in mind, Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme was started by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
• The main objective of this scheme is to help girls financially to complete their post intermediate education.
• Under this scheme, the eligible girl child will receive a monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,000/-.
• This assistance will be provided up to the completion of graduation.
• The benefits of the scheme will be received by the girls who have completed their education of Class 6th to Class 12th from Tamil Nadu Government Schools.
• From 15 July 2024, the government expanded the benefits of the scheme where the benefits will be extended to girl students of Government Aided schools.
• Due to this expansion a total of 49,664 girl students are eligible to receive the benefit of the scheme.
• Girls Students can apply for financial assistance for under graduate course by filling the Online Application Form of Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme.

Benefits of Scheme

• The below mentioned benefits will be provided to eligible Girls Students under Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme :-
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,000/- per Month will be provided to girls students till the completion of their course.

Eligibility Criteria

• Only Girls Students are Eligible to Apply.
• Girls who have passed Class 6th to Class 12th from Tamil Nadu Government and Government aided schools.
• Girls studying in any Undergraduate Course.
• Girls who have passed Class 6th to Class 8th from private school under Right to Education Act (RTE) and passed Class 9th to Class 12th from Tamil Nadu Government School are also eligible to apply.

Ineligibility Criteria

• The below mentioned girls are not eligible to avail the benefit of per month financial assistance under Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Scheme of Tamil Nadu Government :-
  • Girls Who Have Passed 6th to 12th Class from Private School.
  • Girls Studying in Post Graduate Course.
  • Girls Studying Through Distance Mode.
  • Girls Studying in Open Universities.

Documents Required

• Documents that are required at the time of applying for financial assistance under Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Scheme are as follows :-
  • Domicile of Tamil Nadu.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Caste Certificate (If Applicable).
  • 10th Marksheet/Certificate.
  • 12th Marksheet/Certificate.
  • Transfer Certificate from School.
  • Bank Account Details.

How to Apply

• Girls Students can apply for financial assistance by filling Online Application Form of Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme.
• Online Application Form of Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme is available at Pudhumai Penn Portal.
• Girl Student has to Register herself first through her Mobile Number.
• After entering the mobile number, an OTP will be received on the applicant's mobile number.
• After entering OTP, the applicant has to enter the following personal details :-
  • Date of Birth.
  • EMIS Number.
  • Name of the Applicant.
  • Father/Mother/Guardian Name.
  • Aadhar Number.
  • Community.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Email ID.
  • Photo of the Applicant.
  • Educational Category.
  • College District.
  • College Name.
  • Course.
  • Course Tenure.
  • Joining Year.
  • College Roll Number.
• After filling all these details click on proceed button.
• After that the applicant will have to fill the following details of school education from Class 6th to Class 12th :-
  • District of the School.
  • Panchayat Town.
  • School Name.
  • Year of Passing.
  • Roll Number (Only of Class 10th and Class 12th).
• Then fill the below mentioned bank details :-
  • Bank Name.
  • Branch City.
  • Branch Name.
  • IFSC Code.
  • Account Number.
  • Re-enter Account Number.
  • Account Holder Name.
• After filling all the details click on submit button and after that a preview form will appear on the screen.
• Then after checking all the details click on complete registration and the applicant's form will be submitted.
• After verification of the application from the Education Department, the applicant will be informed through SMS.
• If the application is found to be correct, the applicant will continue to get the amount of assistance in the bank account regularly every month.

Features of the Scheme

• Under this scheme, only those girls are eligible who have completed their studies from class 6th to class 12th from a government school.
• The girl who has completed her studies under Right to Education from class 6th to class 8th and after that from a government school from class 9th to class 12th are also eligible under this scheme.
• A girl who takes benefit of any other government scheme is also eligible to get benefit under this scheme.
• Girls studying in any Undergraduate Course, Professional Course, Paramedical Course, Diploma, ITI, or any other recognised course are eligible to take benefits under this scheme.
• Girls who have completed class 6 to 12 from any private school, studying in open university or distance mode, studying in post graduate course are not eligible under this scheme.
• An amount of Rs. 697.78 Core has been made for this scheme in the budget estimate for the year 2022-2023.
• After applying, the list of eligible students will be released only after due scrutiny of the applications.
• The financial assistance amount of the scheme will be given every month in the account of the girl.

Paramedical Courses like :- Nursing. Pharmacy. Medical Lab Technology. Physiotherapy. All Arts, Science and Fine Arts Courses. Diploma or ITI or any other recognized course.
