West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Scheme

Introduction

• Krishak Bandhu Scheme is a flagship scheme of West Bengal Government for the welfare of farmers.
• It was launched on 1st of January 2019 by Chief Minister of West Bengal.
• The main objective behind starting this scheme is to provide social security to farmers and to provide income protection in case of untimely death of a farmer.
• Krishak Bandhu Scheme has two important components :-
  • Krishak Bandhu Assured Income Scheme.
  • Krishak Bandhu Death Benefit Scheme.
• Under the Krishak Bandhu Assured Income Scheme, farmers will get :-
  • Assured Sum of Rs. 10,000/- per acre per year to those farmers who have 1 acre or more cultivable land.
  • Assured Sum of Rs. 4,000/- per acre per year for the farmers who have less than 1 acre of cultivable land.
• Under the Krishak Bandhu Death Benefit Scheme, in case of untimely death of the farmer, the claimant will get financial assistance of Rs. 2,00,000/-.
• All the farmers of West Bengal are eligible to take benefit of West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Scheme.
• On 17th of June 2021, this scheme was renamed to Krishak Bandhu (Natun).
• The financial assistance will be paid to eligible farmer through Direct to Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
• Farmers can apply for yearly financial assistance by applying through Krishak Bandhu Assured Income Scheme Application Form.
• And in case of untimely demise of farmer, legal claimant can claim money by flling Krishak Bandhu Death Benefit Scheme Application Form.

Benefits of Scheme

• Government of West Bengal will provide the following benefits to Farmers under Krishak Bandhu Scheme :-
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 10,000/- per acre per year. (For those farmers who have 1 acre or more cultivable land)
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 4,000/- per acre per year. (For those farmers who have less than 1 acre of cultivable land)
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 2,00,000/- in case of death of a farmer.

Eligibility

• Farmers of West Bengal.
• The Age of Farmer should be between 18 Years to 60 Years.
• Farmers having Cultivable Land with :-
  • Record of Right (RoR) / Khata Khatauni.
  • Patta.
  • Forest Patta.
  • Recorded Bhagchasi (Share Cropper).

Documents Required for Registration

• Any of the below mentioned Land Record :-
  • Record of Right (RoR) of Cultivable Land.
  • Record of Right (RoR) recorded with Barga.
  • Patta Record.
  • Forest Patta.
• Voter ID Card. (Mandatory).
• Aadhar Card.
• First Page of Bank Passbook or Cancelled Cheque.
• Recent Passport Size Photo.
• Mobile Number.

How to Avail Benefit

• Farmer has to fill the Krishak Bandhu Scheme Application Form and submit it to the Gram Panchayat of his area.
• The following documents will be attached with the Application Form of West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Scheme :-
  • Latest Record of Right (RoR) of Land / RoR recorded with Barga / Patta Record / Forest Patta.
  • Voter ID Card. (Mandatory).
  • Aadhar Card.
  • First Page of Bank Passbook or Cancelled Cheque.
  • Passport Size Photo
  • Mobile Number.
• After submitting the form and documents, an Acknowledgement Slip will be issued to the applicant.
• The Application Form and attached documents will be thoroughly scrutinized.
• The information about the form is accepted or rejected will be given to the applicant on his given mobile number.

Death Benefit Claim Procedure

• In case of untimely death of the registered farmer, the claimant can claim for the financial assistance under Krishak Bandhu Death Benefit Scheme.
• The only way to claim financial assistance in Krishak Bandhu Scheme is through the Application Form.
• Krishak Bandhu Scheme Death Claim Application Form is available at District Office of Agricultural Department.
• Duly filled application form will be submitted along with the following documents :-
  • Photocopy of any identity card of the deceased farmer :-
    • Voter ID Card.
    • Aadhar Card.
    • Pan Card.
    • Passport.
  • Photocopy of Death Certificate.
  • Claimant Certificate.
  • Record of Right (RoR) of the deceased farmer.
  • Self Declaration Form of the Claimant.
• The application form and attached documents will be scrutinized by the Assistant Director of the State Agriculture Department.
• If the application form is found correct, the financial assistance under West Bnegal Krishak Bandhu Scheme will be transferred to the claimant's bank account.

Feature of the Scheme

• Farmers will be given financial assistance in two equal installments every year.
• Farmers having 1 acre or more cultivable land will get Rs. 5,000/- for rabi crop and Rs. 5,000/- for kharif crop.
• Farmers having less than 1 acre of cultivable land will get Rs. 2,000/- for rabi crop and Rs. 2,000/- for kharif crop.
• In case of untimely demise of the farmer, the claimant get on time grant of Rs. 2,00,000/-.
• Under Krishak Bandhu Death Benefit Scheme, the farmers age should be between 18 to 60 years.
• Voter ID Card is mandatory to avail the benefit of this scheme.
• The nodal bank of this scheme is West Bengal State Co-operative Bank Limited.
• Original documents must be produced by the farmer at the time of verification.
