Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

  • The PM Vishwakarma Yojana was announced by Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman.
  • The full name of PM Vishwakarma Yojana is PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana.
  • However, the scheme is also known by other names such as "PM VIKAS Yojana" or "PM Vishwakarma Scheme" or "Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana".
  • On 16th of August 2023, the Union Cabinet gave its nod to implement PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
  • After receiving permission, the scheme was launched successfully across India on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti i.e. 17 of September 2023.
  • The main objective behind launching PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana is to support artists, craftsmen and small business owners financially, and help them to grow their business by providing them capital support.
  • The Government of India reserves the budget of Rs. 13,000/- Crore for the smooth implementation of PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
  • The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise(link is external) is the nodal ministry of PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
  • Loan up to Rs. 1,00,000/- on a nominal interest rate of 5% will be provided to the eligible Artists and Craftsmen for their enterprises.
  • Upon returning the loan amount successfully, they are eligible for a loan up to Rs. 2,00,000/- at the Interest rate of 5%.
  • Apart from Capital Loan, Skill Training will also be provided to Artists and Craftsmen under PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
  • Stipend of Rs. 500/- per day will be provided to trainees selected for training under Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana.
  • A Financial Assistance of Rs. 15,000/- will be provided to all Crafts and Artisan people to purchase advanced tools for their business.
  • PM Vishwakarma Certificate and Identity Card will be issued to beneficiaries for their identification.
  • 18 Traditional Trades are included by the Government of India under PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
  • 30 Lakhs families belonging to more than 164 Backward Classes are expected to be covered under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
  • Government has shared the detailed Guidelines and Application Procedure of PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
  • Painters are not eligible to avail the benefit of PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
  • Eligible Craftsmen and Artisans can now apply to avail the benefit of PM Vishwakarma Yojana through 2 ways :-

PM Vishwakarma Scheme Benefits

Scheme Benefits

  • The following benefits will be provided to all Artisans and Crafts people under PM Vishwakarma Yojana :-
    • Loan up to Rs. 1,00,000/- will be provided at 5% Interest Rate in 1st Phase.
    • Loan up to Rs. 2,00,000/- will be provided at 5% Interest Rate in 2nd Phase.
    • Skill Training will also Provided.
    • Stipend of Rs. 500/- per day will be provided during the Training Period.
    • Rs. 15,000/- will be provided to Purchase Advance Tool Kit.
    • PM Vishwakarma Certificate and Identity Card will also be provided.
    • The tenure of the 1st phase loan is 18 months.
    • The tenure of the 2nd phase loan is 30 months.
    • Incentive of Rs. 1/- per digital Transaction (up to 100 monthly transaction)

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant should be an Indian Resident.
  • Applicants should be an Artisan or Craftspeople/ Craftsmen.
  • Age of Applicant should be 18 Years or Above on the date of registration.
  • Only one member from a family is eligible to apply.

    • Barber. (Nai)
    • Doll and Toy Maker. (Traditional)
    • Basket/ Mat/ Broom Maker/ Coir Weaver.
    • Mason. (Rajmistri)
    • Cobbler (Charmkar)/ Shoesmith/ Footwear Artisan.
    • Sculptor (Moortikar, Stone Carver), Stone Breaker.
    • Potter. (Kumhaar)
    • Goldsmith. (Sonar)
    • Locksmith.
    • Hammer and Tool Kit Maker.
    • Blacksmith. (Lohar)
    • Armourer.
    • Boat Maker.
