Odisha Niramaya Scheme

Introduction

• Odisha Niramaya Scheme is the major health care scheme of Odisha Government.
• It was started in the year 2015.
• Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited is the implementing agency of this scheme.
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to provide essential medicines free of cost to people of Odisha.
• This scheme is also called Free Medicine Distribution Scheme of Odisha Government.
• Under Odisha Niramaya Scheme, Government of Odisha have an aim to provide more than 573 Health related items including essential medicines free of cost to the people of Odisha.
• At present more than 570 medicines and health related items will be provided to people free of cost.
• Free of Cost Medicine and all the Health Related Items will be available at every government hospital and medical colleges.
• Government of Odisha will open 1102 Drug Distribution Centers in the State to distribute free medicine to people.
• 1102 Drug Distribution Center will open according to the following criteria :-
  • 1234 in Primary Health Centers.
  • 383 in Community Health Centers.
  • 32 in District Headquarters Hospitals.
  • 22 in Sub Divisional Hospitals.
  • And 3 in Medical Colleges.
• Free Cashless Medicine will be provide to all people of Odisha in all these Drug Distribution Centers.
• These centers will open 24*7.
• People of any age group will take the benefit of Odisha Niramaya Scheme.
• State or Central Government Employees are not eligible to avail the benefit.
• There is no need to apply anywhere to avail the benefit of Odisha Niramaya Scheme.

How to Apply

• Beneficiary has to visit any government hospital or medical college first.
• Book an OPD to visit and consult the doctor.
• Once you visit the doctor, then he/she prescribed some medicine on their prescription.
• Take that prescription of a doctor and visit the Drug Distribution Center of that hospital or medical college.
• The agent present at DDC will provide free of cost medicine to the beneficiary as mentioned in the prescription.

  • 317 General Items.
  • 83 Surgical Items.
  • 107 Anti Cancer Items.
  • 21 OSACS.
  • 6 Child Health.
  • 6 Nutrition Programme.
  • 28 Malaria Control Programme.
  • and 5 for Leprosy.
• Beneficiary can take free of cost medicine according to prescribed by the doctor.
• In case of any grievance, beneficiary can visit the office of Medical Officer In-Charge.
• Prescription from doctor is mandatorily needed to procure free medicines from drug distribution centers.
