Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana

Introduction

• Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana is the flagship scheme of Odisha Government.
• It is the primary health coverage scheme for the welfare of residents of Odisha.
• It started on 15th of August 2018.
• Odisha's Department of Health and Family Welfare is the Nodal Department of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana.
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to provide special health protection to the residents of Odisha.
• Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana has two components :-
  • It provides free health care services in all the State Government Hospitals and Medical Colleges.
  • Cashless Treatment upto Rs. 5,00,000/- (Rs. 10,00,000/- for Women) in any Empanelled Hospital within and outside the State.
• In State Government Hospital and Medical Colleges, every person of the Odisha State are eligible to avail the benefit.
• But in empanelled hospitals only person holding following cards are eligible to avail the benefit :-
  • Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana Card.
  • BPL Card.
  • AAY Card.
  • Low Income Families Group.
• Every person irrespective of income status or residence can avail free health care services in Government Hospitals and Medical Colleges.
• But in private empanelled hospitals only BKKYC, BPL AAY Card holder and Income Group Families are eligible to avail health care services up to Rs. 5,00,000/- per family per year.
• Women are eligible to avail health care services up to Rs. 10,00,000/- per year.
• Beneficiary will avail the benefit of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana by simply walking in the Government or Empanelled Hospitals.

• Free Cashless Treatment up to Rs. 5,00,000/-.
• Women can avail Free Cashless Treatment up to Rs. 10,00,000/-.
• Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana cover the following health care services :-
  • Free of Cost OPD Registration.
  • Free Medicines.
  • Free Diagnostic like Pathology, Radiology, Biochemistry, etc.
  • Free Cancer Chemotherapy.
  • Free Dialysis Charges.
  • Free Operation Theatee Charges.
  • Free ICU Charges.
  • Free IPD Accomodation.
  • Free Blood Bank Services.
  • And Many More.

Eligibility

• Residents of Odisha.
• Low Income Families Group of Odisha whose Income are :-
  • Rs. 50,000/- per annum in Rural Areas.
  • Rs. 60,000/- per annum in Urban Areas.
• Families Covered in any of the following scheme :-
  • National Food Security Act.
  • State Food Security Scheme.
• Following Card Holders :-
  • Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana Card.
  • BPL Card Holder.
  • AAY Card Holder.

Documents Required

• To avail the benefit of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, any one of the following documents will be required :-
  • Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana Card.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana Card.
  • BPL Card.
  • AAY Card.

How to Apply

• To avail the free health care service under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, the beneficiaries will need the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana Card.
• Beneficiary can take their Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana Card visiting any Mo Seva Kendra.
• To avail the benefit of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, Beneficiary can go to any hospital and use this card to avail free health care services.
• The benefit can also be availed by showing Income Certificate, Biju Krushak Jeevan Kalyan Yojana Card, BPL Card or AAY Card in the empaneled hospital.
• In Government Hospital no document is required to avail the benefit under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana.

Features of the Scheme

• Total of 1589 health care packages are available under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, out of which :-
  • 46 Packages for Government Hospitals and Medical Colleges. (It is a Reserved Package)
  • 155 Packages for Referral from One Hospital to Other Bettter Facility.
  • 1388 Packages for Empanelled Hospitals. (It is a Open Package)
• 8,530 Government Hospitals and 458 private hospital are providing health care facility under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana.
• All services under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana are free of cost.
• Swasthya Mitras are available in every empanelled hospitals to help the beneficiaries.
• Beneficiaries can avail the scheme benefit within as well as outside the Odisha State.
• More than 5 Crore beneficiaries are covered under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana.
