West Bengal Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme

Introduction

• Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme is the most prominent scheme of the West Bengal Government for the welfare of farmers.
• It was started in the year 2019.
• The main objective behind launching West Bengal Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the farmers in case of crop loss or damage.
• It will stabilize the income of the farmer and helps them to not to take any extreme step in case of their crop loss.
• Department of Agriculture of West Bengal is the nodal department of Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme.
• This scheme is also known as "West Bengal Bangla Shasya Crop Insurance Scheme".
• Under West Bengal Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme, the crops of the farmers will be under coverage of risks from sowing to post harvesting.
• All the premium of the insurance policy will be paid by the West Bengal Government.
• Farmers can claim the financial assistance in case of crop loss due to :-
  • Mid Season Adversity.
  • Prevented Sowing.
  • Failed Sowing.
  • Crop Sowing.
  • Harvesting Loss.
• The amount of compensation under Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme will be calculated by the insurance company after ground inspection.
• Both Kharif and Rabi Crops are covered under Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme.
• Eligible Farmers can enroll themselves under Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme through Application Form.
• In case of crop loss, farmers can call the insurance company and report the crop loss and claim the compensation for crop loss under Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme of West Bengal Government.

• Farmer should be resident of West Bengal.
• All Farmers of West Bengal including :-
  • Sharecroppers.
  • Tenant Farmers.
• Scheme is mandatory for Loanee Farmers.

How to Apply

• Eligible Farmers can apply for crop insurance under West Bengal Shasya Bima Scheme through Application Form.
• Application Form of Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme is available at Gram Panchayat Office free of cost.
• Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme Application Form is to be filled by the farmer and following documents will be attach with Application Form :-
  • Voter ID Card.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Land Record Details.
  • Pattedar Passbook.
  • Land Possession Certificate.
  • Proof of Cultivation.
  • Contract or Agreement Details.
• Submit the Application Form along with the document in the office of Gram Panchayat.
• Application will be scrutinised and if accepted then farmers will receive SMS on their mobile phone.
• Selected Farmers can download their Insurance Certificate of Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme from Official Website.

Claim Procedure

• Farmers can apply for compensation for their loss of crop under West Bengal Government's Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme.
• Visit Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme Official Website.
• Click on Report Crop Loss.
• Then an Insurance Company Numbers will appear.
• Select the Insurance Company Number according to the crop season i.e. Rabi or Kharif.
• Call the Insurance Company and inform them about the crop loss and the reason of crop loss.
• Agent on call will note down the details along with the insurance policy number of farmer.
• Officer of Insurance Company will then do a ground inspection and file his/ her report about the crop loss of farmer.
• Compensation of Crop Loss under West Bengal Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme will then directly transferred in the bank account of farmer.
