Introduction
- Most of the Girls in rural areas of Punjab are not able to complete their education because schools are far away from their home.
- Addressing this major issue Government of Punjab introduced Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme in 2011 to promote girls in completing their education.
- Department of Women & Child Development, Punjab is nodal department of the scheme.
- Under this Scheme Government will be providing Free Bicycles to the Girls studying in classes IX to XII.
- Girls willing to avail the benefit of the scheme must be enrolled into Government schools of Punjab.
- Recommendation by the head of the School is must to avail the benefit of the Scheme.
- The Scheme is a great initiative in reducing school dropout rate among girl students in the state of Punjab.
Eligibility
- Girl should be permanent Resident of state of Punjab.
- Girl should be studying in classes IX to XII.
- Girl should be enrolled in Government school of Punjab.
- Girl should belong to a BPL Family.

How to Apply
- To apply for Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme applicant should contact to their nearest Office of District Programme Officer.
- Applicant can also contact the principal of their concerned school regarding the Scheme.
- Application form will be provided by the concerned person.
- Fill up the application form and submit all the required Documents.
- Verification of the details of the applicant will be done by the concerned authority.
- After successful verification applicant can avail the benefit of the scheme.
