Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• After years of waiting, the dream of crores of devotees to see the temple of Shri Ram in Ayodhya Dham is now going to be fulfilled.
• Ayodhya Dham is the birth place of Prabhu Shri Ram and now in his birth place a magnificent and huge temple is being constructed by the trust.
• Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi with other Hindu Priests inaugurated the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Dham on 22 of January 2024.
• Keeping in mind the faith of people of Chhattisgarh, the state government announced a scheme which will allow their citizens to visit Shri Ram Mandir free of cost.
• While chairing the cabinet meeting on 11th of January 2024, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh gave its approval to start "Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana" in the State.
• The main objective behind starting Chhattisgarh Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana is to provide free of cost pilgrimage to Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Dham.
• This scheme is going to be known by some other major names such as "Chhattisgarh Shri Ramlala Darshan Scheme" or "Chhattisgarh Shri Ramlala Free Darshan Yojana" or "Chhattisgarh Shri Ram Mandir Nishulk Darshan Yojana".
• Government of Chhattisgarh will now provide the facility to their citizens to visit Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Dham free of cost under Shri Ramlala Darshan Yojana.
• Expenses incurred during the Shri Ram Mandir journey will be borne by the Government of Chhattisgarh.
• Beneficiaries are not required to pay any amount to visit Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Dham.
• Beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and 75 are eligible for free of cost visit to Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Dham under Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana.
• However, in the first phase preference will be given to beneficiaries above 55 years of age.
• Recently, the government also added Ganga Arti and Kashi Vishwanath to the scheme.
• It is mandatory for a beneficiary to be physically and medically fit for travelling, a medical certificate will need to be submitted at the time of applying.
• State Tourism Department will be the nodal department of the scheme to oversee its implementation.
• Government of Chhattisgarh sets the target to send 20,000 people every year for Shri Ram Mandir Visit in Ayodhya Dham.
• For pilgrimage, authorities will select devotees 25% from Urban and 75% from rural areas.
• The government has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the IRCTC for travelling facilities.
• The government has released the Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana Official Guidelines along with the Application Form.
• Application form for Chhattisgarh Shri Ram Lalla Darshan (Ayodhya Dham) Yatra Yojana can be submitted offline.
• Chief Minister Sh. Vishnu Deo Sai flagged off the first train to Shri Ayodhya Dham under Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana from Durg on 7th of February 2024.
• As of 22 January 2025, 22,100 devotees took the blessings of Shri Ram Lalla under Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana.

Scheme Benefits

• Residents of Chhattisgarh will get the below mentioned benefits under Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana :-
  • Free of Cost Visit to Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Dham.
  • 20,000 every year will be selected for Shri Ram Mandir Visit.
  • Beneficiary doesn't have to pay any amount for the visit to Ayodhya Dham.
  • All Travel Expenses such as Fooding, Boarding, Lodging will be borne by Chhattisgarh Government.

Eligibility Requirements

• Free of Cost Visit to Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Dham under Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana of Chhattisgarh Government will only provided to those beneficiaries who fulfil the following eligibility conditions :-
  • Beneficiary should be a Permanent Resident of Chhattisgarh.
  • The Age of Beneficiary should be between 18 Years to 75 Years.
  • Beneficiaries should be Medically Fit.

• Documents that are required for free of cost visit to Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Dham under Chhattisgarh Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana are as follows :-
  • Identity Proof (Any One) : -
    • Ration Card.
    • Driving License.
    • Voter Identity Card.
    • Aadhaar Card.
  • Age Proof.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Medical Certificate.

Steps to Apply

• Chhattisgarh Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana Application can be submitted offline.
• Applicants need to first obtain the Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana application form.
• Application form for Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana can be obtained from Gram Panchayat or Nagar Nigam office.
• Additionally, applicants can also download the Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana Application Form online.
• Applicants must fill the details in the obtained application form carefully in Hindi language.
  
• Paste the latest passport size photograph in the space provided.
• Attach all the documents requested in the scheme guidelines or notified in the form.
• Submit this filled in application at the Gram Panchayat or Nagar Nigam office.
• It is mandatory for all applicants to provide details of two people who can be contacted during an emergency.
• Committee formed by the officials will verify the received application form.
• Authority will prepare a list of applicants who pass the scrutiny test.

Selection Process

• Post verification of submitted application, the collector will select the beneficiaries for the Shri Ram Lalla (Ayodhya) Darshan Yojana as follows : -
  • Authority will select the beneficiaries for the scheme in a phased manner.
  • In the first phase, preference will be given to applicants 55 years and above.
  • For the journey, 25 percent of beneficiaries will be selected from Urban and 75 percent from Rural areas.
  • Applicants will be selected based on the available quota for their respective area.
  • If the number of applications for any location exceeds the given quota, beneficiaries will be selected through a lottery system.
  • A waiting list equal to 25 percent of available quota will also be prepared.
  • If the selected person is unable to travel, a person from the waiting list will be sent on the trip.
  • If a husband or wife is selected for the journey, then the spouse is also eligible to accompany them, if their details are included in the application form.
  • While drawing a lottery, if both husband and wife applied for the scheme and eligible for attendant, in that case the lottery drawn will be considered as one.
  • If a person applied under a group, the entire group will be considered as one unit.
  • The list of people selected for the journey will be displayed in the department office.
  • Only selected persons are allowed for the journey, other than those won't be permitted at all.

Key Features of the scheme

• If either husband or wife selected for the scheme, they both are eligible for the trip if spouse information is also submitted in the form.
• People aged 65 or above are allowed to take one assistant with them, whose information must be shared during form submission.
• If a couple is selected for the journey, they are not allowed to bring assistants unless they both are 65 or above.
• Applicants can also submit applications in groups, with not exceeding 10 members in each group.
• Applicants above 65 years of age travelling in a group without a spouse are eligible to bring one attendant for every 5 people.
• Applicants must be physically and mentally fit for the journey and should not be suffering from disease like T.B, Asthma, mental illness, leprosy etc.
• The department will send the people in a group of 850 members, which can be increased to a maximum of 1,000.
• 'To and fro' free transportation facility to the nearest railway station or bus stop (used as a starting point) will be provided by the district administration to selected persons from their respective districts.
• Before the journey, all selected persons will go through a medical test. If anyone doesn't meet the criteria will not be permitted to travel, and a person from the waiting list will be selected instead.
• All expenses during the journey will be borne by the state government, except personal expenses.
