Uttarakhand Electricity Subsidy Scheme

Scheme Introduction

• On 16th of September, CM of Uttarakhand Sh. Pushkar Singh Dhami celebrated his 49th birthday.
• He annonced lots of schemes for the welfare of people of Uttarakhand.
• One of the major welfare scheme announced by him is "Electricity Subsidy Scheme".
• Now Uttarakhand Government will provide subsidy on electricity bills under its new scheme.
• Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited is the nodal agency of this scheme.
• The main objective behind starting this scheme is to provide relief to middle class people from increased prices of electricity.
• 50% Subsidy on Electricity Bills will be provided to all eligible beneficiaries under Electricity Subsidy Scheme of Government of Uttarakhand.
• Subsidy on Electricity Bills under this scheme will be provided according to the usage of consumer.
• In Higher Himalayan Region, beneficiaries who consume up to 200 units of electricity per month are eligible to get 50% subsidy on electricity bills.
• Whereas, beneficiaries from other region of Uttarakhand who consume 100 units of electricity montly are eligible for 50% subsidy on electricity bills under Electricity Subsidy Scheme.
• Subsidy on Electricity Bills under Uttarakhand Electricity Subsidy Scheme is applicable for only 1 KW Domestic Electricity Connections.
• It is to be estimated that around 11.50 lakh people will get the benefit of Electricity Subsidy Scheme of Uttarakhand.
• Right now this much information is available for this scheme.
• Application Form of Uttarakhand Electricity Subsidy Scheme is also not released yet.
• Government of Uttarakhand will soon released the Official Guidelines of this scheme.

Scheme Benefits

• Government of Uttarakhand will provide the following benefits to people of State under its newly announced Electricity Subsidy Scheme :-
  • Subsidy will be provided on Monthly Electricity Consumption.
  • 50% Subsidy on Electricity Bill will be Provided.

Eligibility Requirements

• Subsidy of 50% on Electricity Consumption under Electricity Subsidy Scheme of Government of Uttarakhand Government will only provided to those households who fuflil the following eligibility criteria :-

  Permanent Residents of Uttarakhand are Eligible. Beneficiary should have Household Electricity Connection of 1 KW. The Monthly Electricity Consumption of Beneficiary should be :- Maximum 200 Units in Higher Himalayan Region. Maximum 100 Units in Other Regions of Uttarakhand.

Required Documents

• Documents that are required to avail the benefit of 50% subsidy on the consumption of electricity under Uttarakhand Government's Electricity Subsidy Scheme are as follows :-
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Recent Electricity Bill.
  • Mobile Number.

Steps to Apply

• Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Sh. Pushkar Singh Dhami announced this scheme on his birthday.
• The mode of delivery of Electricity Subsidy Scheme of Uttarakhand is not clear yet.
• Howevery there might be some possible ways through which Government of Uttarakhand will going to implement this scheme.
• The first possible way is to generate subsidized bill to consumers who consume up to 200 units of electricity in Higher Himalayan Region and up to 100 units in other regions.
• The other possible way is to first registered consumers in Electricity Subsidy Scheme of Uttarakhand.
• Check their eligibilty and then generate subsidized bills to those consumers who found eligible for subsidy.
• It totally depends on Government of Uttarakhand to choose any method to implement this scheme in whole of State.
• Beneficiaries will have to wait little bit more in order to avail the benefit of subsidy on electricity bill.
• Very soon, Uttarakhand Government lanuch Electricity Subsidy Scheme in whole of State.
