• The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a new pilgrimage scheme for its Sikh residents.
• The scheme announced is called "Panch Takht Yatra Yojana".
• Under this scheme, the state government will provide pilgrimage assistance to domiciled Sikh residents of Uttar Pradesh.
• Each beneficiary will be taken on a pilgrimage to the five prominent Takhts in Sikkhism.

• The five Takhts which are to be covered under the Panch Takht Yatra Scheme are: -
  • Shri Anandpur Sahib in Punjab.
  • Shri Akal Takht Sahib in Punjab.
  • Shri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, Punjab.
  • Shri Takht Sachkhand Shri Hazur Sahib, Nanded, Maharashtra.
  • Shri Harmandir ji Sahib, Patna, Bihar.
• Beneficiaries who meet the eligibility criteria of Panch Takht Yatra Yojana will receive its benefits.
• Currently, the government has only announced the scheme, and its detailed guidelines are yet to be released.
• However, the preference for Panch Takht Yatra Yojana will be provided to the Economically Weaker Section.
• The government will implement the Panj Takht Rail Tour in collaboration with IRCTC.

Scheme Benefits

• The Uttar Pradesh Panch Takht Yatra Yojana will offer the following benefits to its eligible citizens: -

  Free pilgrimage to the Sikh residents of Uttar Pradesh. Pilgrimage will be taken to the five sacred Takht Sahib of Sikhism, which includes: - Shri Anandpur Sahib (Punjab) Shri Akal Takht Sahib (Punjab) Shri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo, Punjab) Shri Takht Sachkhand Shri Hazur Sahib (Nanded, Maharashtra) Shri Harmandir Ji Sahib (Patna, Bihar) Each beneficiary will receive financial assistance of Rs 10,000/-. The scheme is open to both men and women.

Eligibility Requirement

• The benefits of the Panch Takht Yatra Scheme will be provided to those who meet the eligibility conditions stated in the scheme guidelines. These criteria will be shared once the Panch Takht Yatra Scheme Notification is released officially. However, the expected criteria of UP Teerth Yatra Yojana are: -
  • The applicants must be domiciled residents of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The applicants must belong to the Sikh Community.
  • Preference will be given to Economically Weaker Sections.
  • The applicant must fulfil the prescribed annual income criteria.
  • The age of the applicants should be within the specified range.

Required Documents

• Along with the Panch Takht Yatra Yojana application form, applicants are required to provide some of their documents. However, the authority has not released any details related to it. The tentative documents that are requested to be submitted along with the application form are: -
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Residence Proof.
  • Caste Certificate (if required)
  • Passport Size Photograph.
  • Income Certificate.
