National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies

Introduction

• University Grants Commission supports students to complete their study by providing them scholarship and allowances.
• National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies is one of the educational welfare scheme of UGC.
• It is completely run and administered by University Grants Commission.
• As it is clear by the name of the scheme, this scholarship scheme is specifically for the student who wants to complete their post graduation studies within India.
• Monthly Scholarship will be provided to selected students under National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies.
• This scholarship scheme is also known by some other names such as "National Scholarship Scheme for Post Graduate Studies" or "National Scholarship for PG Studies" or "National Scholarship Scheme for PG Studies".
• The main objective behind starting this scholarship scheme is to support students financially to complete their higher studies.
• Scholarship of Rs. 15,000/- per month for a period of not more than 2 years will be provided by UGC under National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies.
• Scholarship provided under this scheme will only provided for 10 months in a year.
• This Scheme is only for a students who are studying in their first year of post graduation course.
• Students whose Age is above 30 years are not eligible to apply for scholarship under National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies.
• Every year 10,000 students will be selected by the UGC under this scheme.
• 30% seats will be reserved by the women students.
• Selection for Scholarship will be purely on all India merit basis.
• Students studying their post graduation course through Open/ Distance/ Correspondence mode are not eligible to apply for scholarship.
• Eligible Students who are currently studying in first year of their Post Graduation Course can apply for per month scholarship under National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies through Online Application Form.
• National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies Online Application Form is available on National Scholarship Portal.
• Students can apply for per month scholarship on or before 15-01-2024.

Benefits of Scheme

• The below mentioned benefits will be provided by University Grants Commission to Students who are selected under National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies :-
  • Per Month Scholarship will be Provided for 2 Years.
  • Scholarship of Rs. 15,000/- per month for 10 Months a Year will be Provided.

Eligibility Criteria

• University Grants Commission sets the following Eligibility Conditions for students to provide them monthly scholarship under National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies :-
  • Student should be Indian.
  • Student should have Passed Graduate Degree Course from UGC recognized Institution.
  • Student should be Currently Studying in First Year of Post Graduate Course.
  • The Age of Student should be below 30 Years.
  • PG Course of Student should be Regular/ Full Time.

Documents Required

• Students should have the following documents with them at the time of applying for per month scholarship under National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies :-
  • Domicile of their State of Residence.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Email ID.
  • Caste Certificate. (If Applicable)
  • Income Certificate.
  • Passport Size Photo.
  • Bonafide Certificate from College/ University.
  • Bank Account Details.

How to Apply

• Eligible Student who are studying in first year of their post graduate course can apply for monthly scholarship provided by UGC under National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies through Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form of National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies is available on National Scholarship Portal of Indian Government.
• Students has to do a registration first by clicking on New Registration.
• The following information will have to be filled by the students in the Registration Form of National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies :-
  • State of Domicile.
  • Scholarship category post matric.
  • Name of Student.
  • Scheme Type.
  • Date of Birth.
  • Gender.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Email Id.
  • Bank IFSC Code.
  • Bank Account Number.
  • Aadhar Number.
• Click on Register to complete the Registration after filling all the details.
• National Scholarship Portal will then send Login credential on the mobile phone of student.
• Login on the portal with received Login ID and Password.
• Select National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies.
• Fill all the mandatory details, upload the documents and click on submit to submit the application form.
• The application will be scrutinized by the College and UGC Officials and the selected candidate list will be available on the UGC Website.
• This scheme is subject to renewal, so student has to renew their scholarship application in their second year of study.
• The last to apply for National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies is 15th of January 2024.
