Scheme Introduction

• The Jammu and Kashmir assembly election is underway and will be conducted in three phases; the 1st phase on 18 September, 2nd phase on 25 September and 3rd phase on 1 October 2024.
• During the election campaign in J&K, all political parties raised many issues, which they promised to fulfil if their party forms the government.
  
• Among such issues, one issue is quite prominent which needs urgent attention is unemployment.
• Seeking this major concerns in J&K, the Bharatiya Janata Party has introduced an initiative called "Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Yojana" (PPNDY).
• This scheme is meant to generate employment for unemployed and underemployed youths in J&K.
• With the help of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Yojana, the BJP aims to generate five lakh employment opportunities.
• The jobs through the scheme are likely to be created in different sectors, aligned with qualification and skills of the applicants.
• This scheme will specifically target unemployed and underemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
• The Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Yojana is part of the BJP's election manifesto, which was released on September 6, 2024.
• Youth who wish to benefit from this scheme, need to know that the scheme is just a pre poll promise of BJP, which will be implemented if the party wins the election.
• As a result, the BJP didn't share much details about the scheme during its announcement.
• Moreover, specific things like, how the scheme will be implemented and how jobs will be created, are not announced yet.
• With this scheme, the BJP will try to attract unemployed youth to cast a vote in their favour.

Eligibility Requirements

• Jammu and Kashmir Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Yojana aims to generate employment in the state for such beneficiaries who meet the following eligibility criteria : -
  • Applicants must be domiciled resident of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Applicants must be unemployed or underemployed.
  • Rest details about the criteria will be shared in its detailed guidelines.

• In order to generate employment, the BJP introduced the Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Yojana.
