Gujarat Shramik Basera Yojana

Introduction

• In an effort to provide shelter to thousands of construction workers who lack proper accommodation facilities.
• The Gujarat Government, led by CM Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, has announced a new scheme called "Shramik Basera Yojana".
• The objective of the scheme is to provide accommodation with basic amenities to all registered workers in the state.
• As there are a number of construction workers who have been living in temporary and inadequate conditions after completing their work.
• Without proper accommodation, these workers face various difficulties and are prone to various diseases.
• To address this issue, the Gujarat Government introduced an accommodation scheme called Shramik Basera Yojana.
• Under the scheme, workers and their families will be provided accommodation facilities.
• The accommodation provided under the Gujarat Shramik Yojana included various basic but important amenities like drinking water, toilets, electricity, fans, CCTV, streetlights, medical care, and childcare.
• The expense for electricity, drinking water, security and cleanliness will be borne by the board, so workers are not required to pay for such services.
• However, for accommodation under Shramik Basera Yojana, workers need to pay Rs 5 per day per person.
• Children's up to the age of 6 age can live rent free in the provided shelter, where they also receive childcare facilities.
• To receive benefits of Gujarat Shramik Basera Yojana, workers must meet its eligibility criteria.
• As per the criteria, any worker who has registered with the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Labor Welfare Board are eligible to receive its benefits.
• Accommodation benefits will be provided to workers and their families including children.
• As per the government, there are more than 10 lakh construction workers registered in the state.
• Therefore, the facility to such workers will be provided in phase wise manner.
• In the first phase, the government will set up accommodation at seventeen notified sites; namely
  • Seven sites in Ahmedabad.
  • One in Gandhinagar.
  • Six in Rajkot and;
  • Three in Vadodara.
• In the preliminary phase, around 15,000 workers will benefit from Gujarat Shramik Basera Yojana.
• To avail the benefit of Gujarat Shramik Basera yojana, workers need to apply for it.
• Gujarat Shramik Basera yojana application form can be submitted online through Gujarat Sanman Portal or offline by directly visiting the accommodation site.
  

Benefits of Scheme

• Under the Gujarat Shramik Basera Yojana, beneficiaries will receive the following benefits :-
  • Construction workers or laborers will receive accommodation facilities for Rs 5 per day.
  • Children up to age of 6 can live rent-free.
  • Electricity, Drinking Water, Security, medical and child care facilities will be provided absolutely free.

Eligibility Criteria

• To receive the benefits of Gujarat Shramik Basera Yojana, applicants must fulfill its below mentioned criteria :-
  • Applicants must be domiciled citizens of India.
  • Applicants must have registered with Gujarat BOCWWB.
  • Applicants must have a valid identity proof.
    

Documents Required

• While submitting an application for Gujarat Shramik Basera Yojana, applicants must keep their following documents ready :-
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • e-Nirman Card.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Passport Size Photograph.
  • Children's Birth Certificate (if any).

How to apply

• Applicants can apply for the Gujarat Shramik Basera Yojana online and offline. By following the below process, applicants can apply for the scheme :-

Online Application

• To submit Gujarat Shramik Basera Yojana Application Form online, applicants need to visit the Gujarat Sanman Portal.
• In its home page, users need to tap on the 'Register Yourself' Link.
• Next, enter your Aadhaar card number and select the User Type from the list.
• In case, workers who have not registered with Gujarat building and construction welfare board, they need to first register for it.
• After this, workers need to enter their e-Nirman Card number generated after registration at GBOCWWB.
• Press the tab to fetch the details of the workers.
• Thereafter, workers need to apply for the Shramik Basera Scheme by providing their necessary details and documents.
• After following the process, workers must submit their application.
• Upon submitting the Shramik Basera Yojana application form, portal will generate the application number, which users need to keep for their reference purposes.

Offline Application

• Users can also submit their Gujarat Shramik Basera Yojana applications offline.
• To do this, workers need to visit the nearest accommodation site set up under the scheme.
• Workers must provide their necessary details and documents.
• Post submitting such details, the accommodation will be provided to the workers and their families.
• In case of any issue or you are unable to locate the nearest accommodation, workers may call at the provided helpline number.
