West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme

Introduction

• Swasthya Sathi Scheme is one of the flagship scheme of West Bengal Government for the welfare of people.
• It was launched on 30th of December 2016.
• The main objective of this scheme to provide free health care facilities to the people of West Bengal.
• Department of Health and Family Welfare of West Bengal Government is the Nodal Department of Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• Under this scheme basic health cover for secondary and tertiary care upto Rs. 5 Lakh per year per family will be provided to registered families.
• All the permanent residents of West Bengal are eligible for Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• A Smart Swasthya Sathi Card will be provided to the beneficiary to avail the benefit of Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• At present 3 below mentioned insurance company is appointed by the West Bengal Government :-
  • National Insurance Company. (In 6 Districts)
  • Oriental Insurance Company. (In 9 Districts)
  • United India Insurance Company. (In 8 Districts)
• Premium of Swasthya Sathi Scheme will be paid by the West Bengal Government.
• All treatments under Swasthya Sathi Scheme is Paperless, Cashless and Smart Card Bases.
• All the pre existing diseases will be covered under Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• To avail the benefit of this scheme, beneficiary will apply for Swasthya Sathi Card through Offline Application Form or through Swasthya Sathi Scheme Portal.

Benefits of Scheme

• The following benefits will be provided to all eligible beneficiaries under West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme :-
  • Free of Cost Treatment upto Rs. 5,00,000/- per year per Family.
  • Rs. 200/- or Rs. 2000/- per year for Transportation.
  • All Pre Existing Disease Covered.

Eligibility Criteria

• Beneficiary should be Permanent Residents of West Bengal.

Ineligibility Criteria

• Families covered under below mentioned health assurance scheme are not eligible under West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme :-
  • West Bengal Health Scheme, 2008.
  • Central Government Health Scheme, 1954.
  • Employee's Insurance Scheme (ESI), 1954.
  • Group Medical Insurance Scheme of Public Sector Undertaking.
  • State/Central Government employee drawing Medical Allowance.

• The below mentioned documents is required at the time of applying for Swasthya Sathi Card under Government of West Bengal's Swasthya Sathi Scheme :-
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Khadyasathi Card.
  • Mobile Number.

How to Apply for Swasthya Sathi Card

• Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for Swasthya Sathi Card under West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme through 2 ways :-
  • Through West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme Offline Application Form.
  • Through West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme Online Application Form.

Offline Enrolment Process

• Any person can apply for Swasthya Sathi Card through the Offline Enrolment Application Form.
• The following details will be filled in the Application Form of Swasthya Sathi Card :-
  • District Name.
  • Block/Municipality Name.
  • Category.
  • Name of the Applicant.
  • Name of Head of the Family.
  • Address.
  • Name of All the Members in the Family.
• The registration of beneficiaries will be done by the insurance company appointed by the government.
• Camps will be organised in every village, town and block for registration and people will have to be informed about it in advance.
• After filling the Application Form from the applicants, all their information will be uploaded on the Swasthya Sathi Portal.
• A slip with URN (Unique Registration Number) mentioning on it will be provided to the applicant.
• Activated Swasthya Sathi cards will be provided to the eligible applicants within 7 days.

Online Application Process

• To get Swasthya Sathi Card, Applicant has to visit the West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme Website.
• Click on Apply Online for Swasthya Sathi Card.
• After entering the Mobile Number, OTP has to be filled for verification.
• After that an Online Form B will appear on the portal.
• Fill the below mentioned details :-
  • District Name.
  • Block/Municipality Name.
  • Category.
  • Name of the Applicant.
  • Name of Head of the Family.
  • Address.
  • Name of All the Members in the Family.
• After that click on the submit button.
• The registration number will be generated by the portal.
• The application will be thoroughly scrutinised by the officials.
• Online Swasthya Sathi Card will be provided to the Applicant to avail the benefit of free of cost medical services under Swasthya Sathi Scheme.

Features of the Scheme

• So far more than 2.4 Crore families get health cover under Swasthya Sathi Scheme of West Bengal Government.
• More than 2400 hospital will empaneled under the Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• Swasthya Sathi Card is mandatory at the time of hospitalisation or within the 24 hours of hospitalisation.
• There is no cap on family size in Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• Swasthya Sathi Scheme is cashless scheme in which cost of hospitalisation up to Rs. 5 Lakh will be paid to hospital through Swasthya Sathi Card.
• Cost of medicine is also included in the Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• Allowance of Rs. 400/- to Rs. 700/- will be provided to the beneficiary if the treatment done in Government Hospital.
• Swasthya Sathi Card will be issued in the name of the eldest family member.
• Maternity Benefit and New Born Care is also included in Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• Under Swasthya Sathi Scheme, below mentioned conditions are not included :-
  • Condition that does not require hospitalisation.
  • Drug and Alcohol related Illness.
  • Fertility related Procedure.
  • Vaccination.
  • War, Nuclear Invasion.
  • Suicide.
