Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• In the recently concluded assembly election, the newly formed BJP government announced various schemes in its election manifesto.
• Among these, one scheme is for the low income households, providing them monthly free ration.
• For this, the government will introduce "Akshay Anna Yojana".
• Under this scheme, the eligible households will receive a monthly free ration at no extra cost.
• Beneficiaries can avail this free ration from fair price shops located nearby to them.
• As of now the scheme is not implemented by the government and is likely to be launched in the coming months.
• A detailed guidelines about the Akshay Anna Yojana will be shared upon its implementation.
• The primary objective of this scheme is to provide good quality ration to the low income group families of the state and reduce the additional financial burden on them.
• The scheme is also known by other names such as "Mukhyamantri Akshay Anna Yojana", or "Mukhyamantri Akshay Anna Scheme".
• As per the manifesto, beneficiaries will receive following items free of cost under the Akshay Anna Yojana : -
  • Rice, Ground Oil, Jowar, Salt, Sugar, Turmeric, Cumin, Red Chili Powder, and Mustard seeds.

Scheme Benefits

• Under the Akshay Anna Yojana, the state government has promised to provide the following benefits to eligible beneficiaries : -

  Monthly Free ration for eligible households. The Free ration consists of the following items : - Rice. Ground Oil. Salt. Sugar. Turmeric. Jowar. Cumin. Red Chilli Powder. Mustard Seeds.

Eligibility Requirements

• Monthly Free Ration benefits under the 'Akshay Anna Yojana' will be provided to applicants who meet the eligibility conditions outlined in the scheme guidelines. As of now, the authority has yet to release its details, the criteria mentioned below are tentative and subject to change : -
  • Applicants must be domiciled residents of Maharashtra.
  • Applicants must belong to the low income group.
  • Applicants annual family income must not exceed the prescribed limit.
  • Other eligibility conditions will be shared here once the scheme guidelines are released.

Required Documents

• Applicants must provide the following documents along with the Mukhyamantri Akshay Anna Yojana application form : -
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Ration Card.
  • Income Proof issued by the competent authority.
  • Passport Size photograph.
  • Address Proof.
  • Caste Certificate (if required).
  • Others as mentioned in the scheme guidelines.

Steps to Apply

• Eligible applicants can apply for the Akshay Anna Yojana.
• Since the scheme is yet to be implemented, details of the application process are currently not available.
• The Application form for the Akshay Anna Yojana will be accepted either offline or online.
• Online applications are likely to be filled through nodal department portal or as directed, while offline application can be submitted at the Food Civil Supplies Department of Maharashtra.
• For offline application, applicants need to obtain the Akshay Anna Yojana application form from a fair price shop or department office.
• Applicants must fill out the application form correctly.
• Attach the requisite documents with the application form.
• The authorities will verify the received application form and documents.
• Applicants who clear the verification stage successfully will receive the free ration as promised under the scheme.
