Introduction

• Every year, lakhs of students appear for the UPSC Civil Services Examination to fulfill their dream of becoming IAS, IPS and IFS officers.
• Many of them come from the middle class or disadvantaged group with a dream in their eye to serve their country.
• However, the road to becoming an IAS officer is not easy. There are various hurdles that these aspirants need to overcome, and financial constraints are a common issue.

• To address this issue, the Tamil Nadu Government has started a kind initiative for these aspirants.
• Recently, the government introduced Naan Mudhalvan UPSC Mains Scholarship Programme.
• Under this initiative; the UPSC aspirants who have cleared their prelims examination will receive a financial assistance of Rs 25,000/-.
• With this assistance, aspirants can avail better coaching and study materials to prepare for their UPSC Mains Examination.
• To implement the scheme across the state, the govt. appointed Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) ad its nodal department.
• To receive the benefits of Tamil Nadu Naan Mudhalvan UPSC Mains Scholarship Programme, aspirants must meet its eligibility criteria.
• As per the notice, only those aspirants who have cleared their UPSC prelims examination for 2024 session are eligible.
• Moreover, only native aspirants of Tamil Nadu can avail benefits of the schemes, which remain valid for this year only.
• To receive the monetary support under the initiative, aspirants need to apply for the scheme.
