Assam Punya Dham Scheme

Introduction

• Assam Government started a religiously important scheme in the state named "Punya Dham Scheme".
• It was launched in the year 2017.
• The main objective of Government of Assam behind starting Punya Dham Scheme is to fulfill the dream of senior citizens of state to visit the major pilgrimage/ religious places once in their life time.
• Tourism Department of Assam Government is the implementing agency of this scheme.
• Punya Dham Scheme is also known by some other major names in Assam State such as :-
  • "Assam Punya Dham Yojana".
  • "Assam Punya Dham Yatra Scheme".
  • "Assam Punya Dham Yatra Yojana".
  • "Assam Free Pilgrimage Tour Scheme".
  • "অসম পুণ্য ধাম আঁচনি".
• Now every eligible senior citizen of Assam State can visit the pilgrimage place of their choice free of cost without spending any money under Punya Dham Scheme.
• At present, Government of Assam is providing the facility of free of cost pilgrimage place visit only for 4 major religious places.
• Beneficiary can choose any of the below mentioned religious places to visit free of cost under Assam Government's Punya Dham Scheme :-
  • Vaishno Devi.
  • Ajmer Sarif Dargah.
  • Mathura - Vrindaban.
  • Jagannath Puri.
• Male Beneficiary of Age between 60 years to 75 years and Female Beneficairy of Age between 55 years to 70 years are only eligible to apply under Punya Dham Scheme.
• Apart from free of cost visit, an allowance of Rs. 150/- per day for food will also provided under Punya Dham Scheme to all travellers.
• All selected beneficiary will travel in AC 3 Tire Railway Coaches and Buses and free of cost accommodation will also provided to them.
• Those beneficiaries whose annual income is more than Rs. 2,50,000/- per year are not eligible to apply under this scheme for free of cost religious place visit.
• 2 Person per Family per destination are allowed under Punya Dham Scheme of Government of Assam.
• Beneficiary should be medically fit and fit to travel.
• Destination Starts and Ends under Punya Dham Scheme is at Guwahati, So all beneficiaries will have to reach Guwahati on their own expenses.
• Religious Places Visit of Punya Dham Scheme is arranged by Assam Tourism Development Corporation in the Group of 50 or 100 people.
• Senior Citizens of Assam who are eligible and have a desire to visit the pilgrimage places can apply in Punya Dham Scheme through Online Application Form.

Benefits of Scheme

• Assam Government will provide the below mentioned benefits to people under Punya Dham Scheme :-

  Free of Cost Visit to the following Pilgrimage/ Religious Places :- Jagannath Puri. Mathura - Vrindaban. Ajmer Sarif Dargah. Vaishno Devi. Free of Cost Travelling in AC 3 Tire Railway Coach and Bus. Allowance of Rs. 150/- per day for Food. Free of Cost Accommodation.

Eligibility Criteria

• Government of Assam sets the following eligible conditions for people in order to provide them a facility for free of cost pilgrimage site visit under Punya Dham Scheme :-

  Beneficiary should be a Permanent Resident of Assam. The Age of Beneficiary should be between :- Male :- 60 Years to 75 Years. Female :- 55 Years to 70 Years. Beneficiary should be Medically Fit. The Annual Income of Beneficiary should be less than Rs. 2,50,000/-. Only 2 Member per Family are Eligible to Apply. Beneficiary can only select One Pilgrimage Destination to Visit.

Documents Required

• Documents that are required at the time of applying for free pilgrimage tour to religious place under Punya Dham Scheme of Assam Government are as follows :-
  • Resident Proof of Assam.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Age Proof.
  • Medically Fit Certificate.

How to Apply

• Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for free of cost pilgrimage travel to 4 religious destination under Punya Dham Scheme of Assam Government through Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form of Punya Dham Scheme is available on the Website of Assam Tourist Development Corporation Limited.
• Assam Punya Dham Scheme Online Application Form is not available everytime on the ATDC's Website.
• Government of Assam opens the portal for online application from time to time.
• Beneficiary has to fill the Online Application Form of Punya Dham Scheme as soon as it goes live on website.
• Fill the basic personal details and upload all the required documents.
• Preview the Form thoroughly and Click on Submit Button to Submit the Application Form of Punya Dham Scheme.
• Submitted Application Form will be scrutinized by the officials of Department of Tourism.
• Punya Dham Scheme List of Beneficiaries will be made then according to the eligibility conditions.
• Selected Beneficiaries will be informed through SMS on their Mobile Number about their selection for free pilgrimage/ religious site visit.
• Then as per pre selected date and time, the train and buses according to the scheduled journey will be departed from Guhawati.
• People of Assam can also apply for Punya Dham Scheme after seeing ad in newspaper which will be published by Government time to time.
