Introduction

• Punjab Aam Aadmi Party Government, led by CM Bhagwant Mann aims to launch various schemes to cater every category and person of the state.
• Earlier, people had to stand in long queues in front of ration shops for subsidized ration.
• Due to this, people have to take a day off from their work, ultimately costing them financially.
• Addressing this issue, the Punjab government has announced a scheme that will save people time, money, and energy.
• Scheme known as "Punjab Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana".
• In presence of AAP founder and Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann initiated the Punjab Ghar Ghar Ration Yojna on 10 February 2024, from Ludhiana's Khanna's village.
• The government launched the scheme with a tagline of "Suchajja Shaasan, Muft Ration".
• The Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Punjab is the nodal authority of the scheme.
• The scheme announced is also known as "Punjab Ghar Ghar Free Ration Scheme", or Punjab Ghar Ghar Muft Ration Scheme", Punjab Ghar Ghar Nishulk Ration Yojana".
• With the help of this scheme, the Punjab Government aims to provide doorstep delivery of subsidised ration.
• This means Punjab residents nop longer need to stand in long ration queues; instead, they will receive their ration while sitting in the comfort of their home.
• Under the Punjab Ghar Ghar Ration scheme, beneficiaries will get the 5 kg wheat flour per person every month.
• The Government will not levy any charges for this doorstep delivery.
• The benefit of the Punjab Ghar Ghar Free Ration scheme will be given to those registered under the National Food Security Act and possess a valid ration card.
• For this doorstep delivery, the Government will recruit unemployed youth as a driver and assistant of the vehicle, that will be used for ration delivery.
• It will provide job opportunities to 1500 unemployed youths of the village.
• Approximately 25 lakhs people will benefit from Punjab Ghar Ghar Ration scheme.
• Government will launch this scheme in phases, initially delivering wheat flour, while further subsidised items added in subsequent stages.
• Biometric authentication of each beneficiary will be done during delivery, and they may also receive a weigh slip for the items delivered.
• Beneficiaries will receive SMSs notification in advance of ration delivery at their registered mobile number.
• For any feedback, suggestion or complaint about the Punjab Ghar Ghar Ration Yojna, individuals can call at toll free number 1100.
• To avail the benefit of Punjab Ghar Ghar Ration Scheme, beneficiary do not need to apply anywhere.
• All eligible beneficiary possessing ration card under NFSA will receive ration deliveries at their home.

Scheme Benefits

• Under Punjab Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana, the beneficiary will get following benefits: -
  • Door step delivery of susbidised ration.
  • Currently, each beneficiary will get 5 kg of Wheat flour.
  • Other subsidised items will be added in next phase.

Eligibility

• Only those beneficiaries who meet the following conditions may avail the door step delivery benefits of Punjab Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana; -
  • The beneficiary must be a resident of Punjab.
  • Must possess a valid ration card issue from the state government under the NFSA.

Documents Required

• To avail the benefit of Punjab Ghar Ghar Free Ration Scheme, beneficiaries must present the following documents during deliver: -
  • Ration Card
  • Aadhaar Card

Application Procedure

• Beneficiaries are not required to apply separately to receive the benefits of Punjab Ghar Ghar Ration Scheme.
• The Free Ghar Ghar Ration scheme is only available to those who are already receiving subsidised ration under the NFSA.
• Ration's will be deliverd to the beneficiary 's doorstep by delivery vehicle operated by the Punjab government.
• Beneficiaries will receive an SMS on their registered mobile number in advance to notify them of the ration delivery.
• Biometric verification of the beneficiary will be conducted at the time of delivery, and they may collect a weigh slip for the ration.
• Every month, these delivery vehicle operated by the state government will deliver ration at no cost, as per the Punjab Ghar Ghar Ration Scheme.
