Scheme Introduction

• Arundhati Gold Scheme is one of the most important scheme of the Government of Assam.
• The launch date of Arundhati Gold Scheme is 1st of January 2020.
• It is run and administered by the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, Government of Assam.
• Most part of the country is facing social evils like child marriage, female foeticide, dowry etc.
• Dowry system is non-existent in Assam but still it is the wish of every parent that they should married their daughter by giving as much as possible.
• Giving gold in marriage has always been considered auspicious.
• Every parent believes that the gift of gold in their daughter's wedding will enhance her social and economic status.
• But this desire sometimes remains incomplete due to poor financial condition of the family.
• Keeping such financially weak families in mind, the Government of Assam has started "Arundhati Gold Scheme" which is also known as "Arundhati Gold Achoni".
• Under arundhati gold scheme financial assistance of Rs. 40,000/- will be provided to the brides to buy gold for her marriage.
• To avail the benefit of this scheme, the marriage must be mandatorily registered under Special Marriage Act, 1954.
• The age of the bride should be 18 years and that of groom should be 21 years.
• Those beneficiaries are not eligible to apply for financial assistance for gold whose annual family income is more than Rs. 5,00,000/- per year.
• Marriage of a Girl Beneficiary should be held on or after 01-12-2019 and the Registration of Marriage should be done on or after 01-01-2020.
• Girl Beneficiaries can apply for financial assistance to purchase gold as promised by Assam Government under Arundhati Gold Scheme by applying through Online Application Form.

Scheme Benefits

• Government of Assam will provide the following benefits to all eligible beneficiaries under Arundhati Gold Scheme :-
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 40,000/- to Buy Gold for Marriage.

Eligibility Requirements

• Bride and Bride Groom should be a resident of Assam.
• Age of Bride and Bride Groom should be 18 years and 21 years respectively.
• Bride and Bride Groom should have passed at least HSLC or equivalent.

  Exception :- There is no minimum educational qualification required for Tea Tribes or Adivasi Communities.

• The Annual Family Income of the Bride should not be more than Rs. 5 Lakh per year.
• The Marriage should be registered under the Special Marriage Act 1954.
• Bride has to apply for the Arundhati Gold Scheme on the same day she applied for marriage registration.
• The marriage should take place on or after 1st December 2019.
• The registration of marriage should take place on or after 1st January 2020.

Required Documents

• Domicile of Assam.
• Proof of Age should be :-

  For SC/ST Community	HSLC/CBSE or Equivalent Pass Certificate. Birth Certificate. OR Medical Examination Certificate of Proof of Age from Competent Authority. (In case of non-availability of Birth Certificate Only).
  For Non SC/ST And Non Tea Tribe/Adivasi Community	HSLC/CBSE or Equivalent Examination Pass Certificate.
  For Tea Tribe and Adivasi Communities.	Birth Certificate of both Bride and Groom. OR Any Educational Certificate. OR Medical Certificate from Competent Authority.

• Attested Copy of Certificate of Marriage.
• Income Certificate.
• Copy of Bank Passbook.
• Certificate of First Marriage issued by Gaonburah/ Mouzdar of Village.

Steps to Apply

• The only way to apply to get gold assistance for marriage under Arundhati Gold Scheme is by applying through Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form of Arundhati Gold Scheme is available on its Official Website.
• The beneficiary has to fill the details in Application Form as follows :-
• Choose a Social Community Details :-
  • Tea Tribe Communities.
  • Others.
• Annual Family Income.
• Is Marriage Registered Under Special Marriage Act, 1954. (Yes or No).
• Is it First Marriage. (Yes or No).
• Have Passed at least HSLC or Equivalent Exam. (Yes or No).
• District Name.
• Sub Registrar Office (SRO) Name.
• Applicant Details :-
  • Applicant (Bride's) Name.
  • Groom's Name.
  • Father's Name (Bride).
  • Mother's Name (Bride).
  • Address.
  • Pin code.
  • Marriage Registered at (Name of Marriage Registration Office).
  • Marriage Registered by (Name of Marriage Registration Officer).
  • Marriage Certificate Number.
  • Date of Marriage.
  • Date of Birth (Bride).
  • Date of Birth (Groom).
  • Email Id of Bride.
  • Mobile Number of Bride.
• Bank Account Details :-
  • IFSC Code.
  • Bank Name.
  • Bank Branch Name.
  • Applicant Name as per Bank Passbook.
  • Bank Account Number of Bride.
• Fill the captcha properly and submit the application.
• After submission, an application number will be allotted to the applicant.
• The appointment will be given by the marriage officer by contacting the applicant through SMS or Email.
• The Applicant has to submit the following documents in original along with the print out of the application form on the day of appointment. (Whichever is applicable) :-
  • HSLC/CBSE or Equivalent Pass Certificate.
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Medical Examination Certificate of Proof of Age.
  • Attested Copy of Marriage Certificate under Special Marriage Act, 1954.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Copy of Bank Passbook.
  • First Marriage Certificate issued by Gaonburah/Mouzdar of the Village.
• Once the application is submitted to the Marriage Officer, the application form will be thoroughly scrutinized.
• In case of acceptance or rejection of the application, the applicant will be informed through SMS or Email.
• On acceptance of the application, the amount of assistance for gold will be transferred directly to the applicant's account.

Key Feature of the Scheme

• The applicant bride can avail the benefit of arundhati gold scheme only for her first marriage.
• To avail the benefit of this scheme, both the bride and the groom must have passed the HSLC/ CBSE or Equivalent Examination.
• But if bride and groom belongs to the Tea Tribe or Adivasi Community, then they do not need an educational certificate.
• At the tim of launch of arundhati gold scheme, the financial assistance amount was Rs. 30,000/-.
• But in view of the rising gold prices, the Assam Government increased this amount to Rs. 40,000/-.
• The financial assistance given under this scheme will be used only for buying gold and not for any other purpose.
• The Inspector General of Registration is the nodal officer to implement this scheme at the State level.
• The Sub - Registrar is the nodal officer to implement this scheme at District Level.
• The application form has to be accepted or rejected within 1 week of its submission.
• In the event of acceptance of the application, the Inspector General of Registration will be responsible for transferring the assistance amount to the applicant's account.
• In case of any grievance, the District Registrar will be the Appellate Authority.
