Telangana MCH Kit Scheme

Introduction

• MCH Kit Scheme is the flagship scheme of the Government of Telangana.
• It was launched on 2nd of June 2017 and became effective from 4th of June 2017.
• The main objective of the scheme is :-
  • To provide quality health care facilities during the pregnancy period and post-delivery.
  • Encouraging the child birth in public or government institutions.
  • Providing complete immunisation to the new born.
  • Reducing Maternal Mortality Rate and Infant Mortality Rate.
• The scheme covers all pregnant women who receive health services during the prenatal and postpartum period through public/government health institutions in Telangana.
• Rs. 12,000/- monetary assistance will be given to women beneficiary if the child born is a boy.
• Whereas, Rs. 13,000/- monetary assistance will be given to women beneficiary if the child born is a girl.
• This financial assistance will be given in five instalments.
• This financial assistance is given for the care of mother and child.
• Apart from this financial assistance, MCH Kit will also provided by the Telangana Government which will contain 16 items for the use of mother and child.
• The cost of this kit is around Rs. 15,000/-.
• The content of this kit will be sufficient for 3 months of use.
• Now Congress Party's New Government in Telangana changed the name of MCH Kit Scheme.
• MCH Kit Scheme is now to be called as MCH Kit Scheme.
• Only the Women Beneficiary of Telangana are eligible to take advantage of this scheme.
• Benefits of Telangana MCH Kit Scheme will be given only when the women beneficiary gave birth to her child in a Public/ Government Hospital.

Benefits of Scheme

• Government of Telangana will provide the following benefits to women beneficiary under MCH Kit Scheme :-
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 12,000/- on the birth of boy child.
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 13,000/- on the birth of girl child.
  • MCH Kit containing 16 necessary items for mother and child.

Amount Distribution Flow of MCH Kit Scheme

• Rs. 3,000/- will be credited to the beneficiary's account after completing 2 ANC checkups within 5.5 months from the date of LMP.
• Rs. 4,000/- will be credited to the beneficiary's account after delivery if the child born is a boy.
• Rs. 5,000/- will be credited to the beneficiary's account after delivery if the child born is a girl.
• Rs. 2,000/- will be credited to the beneficiary's account after the first immunisation (within 3 months of delivery).
• Rs. 3,000/- will be credited to the beneficiary's account after the second immunisation (within 9 months after the delivery).
• A total of 12,000/- will be given by the government on the birth of a boy and Rs. 13,000/- on the birth of a girl.

  • Soaps Useful for Mother and Child.
  • Mosquito Net.
  • Baby Oil.
  • Baby Bed.
  • Dresses.
  • Saree for Mother.
  • Towels.
  • Hand Bag.
  • Napkins.
  • Powder.
  • Shampoo.
  • Diapers.
  • Toys for Kid.

Eligibility Criteria

• Following Eligibility Conditions is required to be fulfilled at the time of applying for MCH Kit Scheme of Telangana Government :-
  • Women Beneficiary should be a resident of Telangana.
  • Women Beneficiary must have Aadhar Card of Telangana.
  • Women Beneficiary can avail the benefit of MCH Kit for a maximum of 2 deliveries.
  • Birth of Child should be in Government Hospital.

Ineligibility Conditions

• If Women fall under any of the below mentioned category then she is not eligible to avail the benefit of Telangana MCH Kit Scheme :-
  • If the beneficiary has more than two surviving children.
  • If the beneficiary has taken treatment from non-government hospitals. (e.g. : private hospital)
  • If the beneficiary Aadhar Card is not from Telangana State.

Documents Required

• The following documents is required at the time of applying to avail the benefit of Telangana MCH Kit Scheme :-
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Bank Account Details.

How to Apply

• Beneficiary can register themselves under MCH Kit Scheme at their nearest Public Health Center (PHC Center) or any government hospital or by providing their details to ASHA Workers.
• The registration process is done by the Data Entry Operator or Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM).
• The Auxiliary Nurse Midwife will collect the following details from the pregnant women :-
  • Aadhaar Card Number.
  • Name.
  • Age.
  • Address.
  • Phone Number.
  • LMP Date.
  • Registration Date.
  • Bank Account Details.
• After registration the MCH Kit Scheme Application will go to the Medical Officer for approval.
• After the approval of the Medical Officer, the application goes to the Deputy District Health and Medical Officer for approval.
• After the approval of the Deputy District Health and Medical Officer,l the application goes for the approval of Finance Department.
• The financial assistance will be transferred to the beneficiary's account after getting all the approvals.

Feature of the Scheme

• MCH Kit welfare program is administered by the Commissioner, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Telangana.
• This scheme named after the Chief Minister of Telangana, Sh. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao.
• This scheme is specially for pregnant women.
• The main aim of this scheme is to provide proper care and treatment during and after pregnancy.
• Therefore, along with the financial help, a MCH Kit is also being given by the government, which contains all the necessities of mother and child up to 3 months.
• The MCH Kit contains 16 essential items like :- Baby Oil, Soaps useful for mother and child, Mosquito Net, Dresses, Handbag, Toys for child, Diapers,Powder, Shampoo, Saree,Towel, Napkins and Baby Beds.
• The cost of this kit is around Rs. 15,000/-.
• Pregnant women can take advantage of this scheme only for 2 deliveries.
• To take advantage of this scheme, pregnant women will have to register herself at the nearest Public Health Centre.
• She will get support at every stage of pregnancy after registration.
• The health status of pregnant women before and after pregnancy will be tracked and monitored through ASHA Workers.
• There is also a pick and drop facility for pregnant women to go to the nearest Public Health Centre.
• Under this scheme, Aadhaar Card and Birth Certificate of new born baby will also be made.
• The financial assistance will be given through Direct Benefit Transfer in which the amount will be directly transferred to the beneficiary's account.
