Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
- The Bihar Government has announced a scheme called "Choti Nursery Yojana".
- Under this scheme, the residents of Bihar can establish a small nursery as part of the Central Government's Integrated Horticulture Development Mission.
- For scheme implementation, the Bihar government has appointed the Horticulture Directorate of the Agriculture Department as the nodal authority.
- The primary objective of this scheme is to produce quality plant material and make it easily available to interested farmers.
- Through these small nurseries, perennial fruit plants, medicinal plants, seasonal and perennial flowers, and various types of vegetables can be grown and cultivated.
- In the financial year 2025-26, only ten nurseries will be set up under the scheme.
- To set up these nurseries, the applicants must have land between 0.4 hectares and 1 hectare.
- Each nursery is to be set up under this scheme with a unit cost of Rs 20 lakh per hectare.
- To establish these units, the government will provide a 50% grant of the total investment, i.e. 10 Lakh per hectare.
- The land where the nursery is to be established must be located near a roadside in the rural areas and free from waterlogging problems.
- The grant under the scheme will be provided in two instalments, which is 60% in the first instalment and 40% in the second.
- The amount will be credited directly to the beneficiary bank account via DBT transfer.
- Interested applicants can apply for the scheme online through the Bihar Horticulture Department Portal.
- To know more about the scheme, applicants may contact the District Horticulture Officer, or call the Kisan Call Centre.
