Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

  • To meet the global education standards, India is going through a developmental phase.
  • The National Education Police (NEP) 2020 will serve as a guiding light in this ever evolving phase.
  • As we know, the core engineering branches play an important role in the manufacturing industries.
  • Since the time has evolved, students are now looking for other options, overshadowing engineering.
  • In order to encourage students to pursue a career in core Engineering branches at the Diploma and Under Graduate (UG) levels.
  • The Ministry of Education, in association with AICTE, has introduced a scholarship scheme called the "Yashasvi Scholarship".
  • YASHASVI stands for "Young Achievers Scholarship and Holistic Academic Skills Venture Initiative".
  • The primary objective of the scheme is to motivate students to pursue engineering at Diploma and UG level.
  • All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the nodal authority of the scheme for overseeing the implementation of the scheme across the country.
  • AICTE introduced various scholarship programme for other students in recent times such as : -
  • Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme is specially designed for the meritorious students seeking admission in the core branches of Engineering.
  • For this, the Ministry of Education is providing an annual scholarship to both Diploma and UG level courses.
  • The students enrolled for the year 2025 are entitled to receive scholarship benefits as per their level.
  • Undergraduate level students will receive an annual scholarship of Rs 50,000/-.
    • It will be a maximum of 4 years for the first year students and 3 years for lateral entry students.
  • Diploma Students will receive a scholarship worth Rs 30,000/- per year.
    • It will be a maximum of 3 years for first year students and 2 years for lateral entry.
  • Students will receive the scholarship amount every year, subject to renewal.
  • The government will transfer the Yashasvi Scholarship amount directly to students' bank accounts via DBT.
  • In 2025, the government will distribute a total of 5,200 scholarships to eligible students.
  • Where 2,593 scholarships are for UG level, while 2,607 for Diploma level students.
  • Applicants enrolled in the first year of UG or Diploma level programme are eligible to receive its benefits.
  • Whereas, students who have been admitted under the lateral entry programme are also eligible.
  • To receive scholarship benefits, students must enroll in AICTE approved colleges.
  • Additionally, the annual income of their family must not exceed the limit of Rs 8 lakh
  • Authority will carry out a selection process to select the eligible students for the Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme.
  • Undergraduate level students will be selected based on the marks secured in intermediate, while diploma students will be selected on their 10th result basis.
  • Scholarship will be forfeited if students failed to clear the examination and are not promoted to next semester.
  • Students applying for the scheme must note that the gap between the qualifying examination and session of admission should not be more than 2 years.
  • Students can apply for the Yashasvi Scholarship online through AICTE Portal.

Scheme Benefits

  • Under the AICTE Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme, the Indian government will provide the following benefits to students enrolled in Degree or Diploma courses at AICTE Approved institutions : -
    • A Total of 5,200 scholarships will be distributed every year.
    • 2,593 scholarships are allocated for degree students, while 2,607 are for diploma students.
    • A scholarship worth Rs. 50,000/-, will be provided to students enrolled in a degree programme.
    • Students pursuing a diploma will receive a scholarship of Rs 30,000/-.
    • Scholarship will be provided annually until the course is completed.
    • It will be provided to both first year and lateral entry students.
    • The Scholarship amount will be credited to students bank accounts via DBT mode.

Eligibility Requirements

  • To avail of the benefits of AICTE Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme, it is important for the students to meet the following eligibility criteria : -
    • Students must be enrolled in the first year or second year (lateral entry) of degree or diploma level courses.
    • Institution must be AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) approved.
    • The annual income of the student's family must be less than Rs 8 lakh.
    • The gap between the qualifying examination year and the admission year should not be more than 2 years.

Ineligibility Criteria

  • Students will not be considered eligible for the scheme if they fall under any of the criteria mentioned below : -
    • Their institutions is not approved by the AICTE.
    • Their annual family income exceed the limit of Rs 8 lakh.
    • They are already receiving scholarship from other scheme.

Required Documents

  • Students are required to furnish the following documents when applying for the Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme : -
    • Aadhaar Card.
    • Address Proof.
    • Bank Account Passbook.
    • Institution Details.
    • Passport Size Photograph.
    • Students Signature.
    • Higher and Intermediate Marksheet.

Steps to Apply

  • Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme application form can be submitted online.
  • To apply, students must visit the AICTE Portal https://www.aicte-india.org/
  • On the home page, select the 'Student Development Scheme' Under the Schemes tab.

  • Scroll Down to find the Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme and click the 'Students Registration Link'.

  • To submit the Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme Application Online, students must first register on the portal.
  • For registration, students must have an APAAR ID, which can be obtained by registering on the ABC Portal.

Registration Process

  • For registration, click on the 'Register Here' tab.

  • Registration form will pop-up on the screen.

  • Students need to provide the following details to complete the registration : -
    • APAAR ID
    • Name
    • Aadhar Number
    • Admission Year.
    • Annual Income
    • Email ID
    • Mobile Number.
  • Create Passwords (You can create your own or use Google generated Passwords).
  • After entering these details, press the "Register" tab.
  • The login credentials will be sent to the registered email ID.
  • Verify the email by tapping on the link received via email.
  • Once verified successfully, applicants can login with their Candidate ID and Password.

Application Form Process

  • Visit the AICTE Yashasvi Scholarship Official Portal.
  • Click on the 'Login' Button.
  • Enter the 'Candidate ID' and 'Password', then press the Login Tab.
  • Upon login, applicants need to fill the application form by sharing their : -
    • Personal Details.
    • Family and Income Details.
    • Institute Details.
    • Education Details.
    • Bank Details.
    • Upload Documents.
  • After providing all such details, applicants must check the declaration box and press the submit application tab.
  • Applicants must submit their application before its deadline.
  • For 2025, AICTE Yashasvi Scholarship Last Date is March 10, 2025.

Selection Criteria

  • Based on the criteria stated under the scheme students will be selected for UG and Diploma level courses : -
    Graduation Level
    Diploma Level
    • Based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination i.e. 12th a merit list will be prepared.
    • For lateral entry students, merit lists will be prepared based on the marks secured in the six semesters of the diploma programme.
    • A merit list will be prepared based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination i.e. 10th.
    • If any State or UTs allotted a scholarship below 10, then such states/UTs will receive a minimum 10 scholarship.

Key Features of the Scheme

  • Applications for the scheme will be invited every year through AICTE Portal only.
  • For registration, APAAR ID is mandatory for all students.
  • Reserved category students selected in the General Category merit list will be counted in General Category.
  • Application with incomplete information, summarily rejected.
  • Candidates who drop out in the subsequent year, will not receive scholarship benefits further.
  • If any student changes his/her branch in the subsequent year of the course they will not receive scholarship benefits and also have to refund the entire scholarship amount.
  • To receive the scholarship amount every year, students must renew their scholarship by submitting a passing certificate or marksheet.
  • Students must not receive any financial assistance from another scheme or scholarship.
  • CGPA will be converted to percentage by multiplying the factor to 9.5.
  • Students with grades like A1, A2 will be first converted to CGPA and then multiplied with 9.5.
  • Authority will upload the list of students shortlisted for the scheme online.
  • If students have any query about the merit list, they may register their complaint within one month.
  • No Query post the expiry of a given duration will not be entertained.
  • If more than one students secure the same marks then the students will be selected based on the following methods : -
    • Students securing the highest marks in the intermediate will be placed higher.
    • In case 12th percentile is unable to break the ties, then the older students will be shortlisted.
